Newport Unveils Education Series for this year’s Boat Show

Newport Exhibition Group, owners and producers of the Newport International Boat Show, announced today the 2016 Education Series for this year’s Boat Show. Greatly expanding on past offerings, the Newport International Boat Show will host  on-water courses, seminars and demonstrations, giving showgoers plenty to look forward to beyond the excitement of new boat debuts and boating gear. This year’s education opportunities include Confident Captain’s At The Helm instruction program; the CruiserPort University seminar series presented by PassageMaker, Sail, Soundings and Power & Motoryacht; and Sail America’s Discover Sailing program.

Emax E-Volution: The Fastest and Greenest Superyacht Ever?

Designed by Sauter Carbon Offset and built by Ned Ship, the 66m Emax E-Volution is, according to the designer, a culmination of the best the yachting world, a vessel with a maximum speed of 28 knots and an unlimited "Zero Carbon" cruising range at 14 knots. Highlights of the design include. - 2MWs of ZF Hybrid Power supplied by MTU 2000 series Tier 4i engines, the cleanest marine diesel engines on the market. - An additional 3MWs of energy harnessed from sustainable sources is stored and employed as ballast in a lithium ion UPS.

In the early evening hours twenty years ago in a shipyard in Brisbane, Australia the sleek hull of the 192 foot motor sailing yacht The Other Woman effortlessly slid down the launch ways into the Brisbane River. The Owner, Ed Cantor, told his guests as he watched his "Other Woman" hit the water "she looks so beautiful without the masts, do we really have to put them on?”. The evening and festivities went on with the question looming, was Ed Cantor serious? That question is now at rest. The 192 foot motor yacht Islander has emerged out of that statement, twenty years later.

Trumpy Returns to Build Motor Yacht

After a 35-year hiatus, the Trumpy name will soon grace the hull of a new motor yacht. Trumpy Yachts, now headed by former Alden Yachts executive Jim Ewing, is introducing the Trumpy 63 Flush Deck Motor Yacht, to be built by Vicem Yachts, builder of cold-molded yachts. “The Trumpy 63 has been designed from original Trumpy drawings, but enhanced with modern yacht systems, equipment and accessories,” Ewing said. With a base price just under $3m, the Trumpy 63 will be fully equipped when ready for sea trials. Delivery time will be approximately 12 months from order. Length o.a.

Marine Software Supplies Softwared to Defense Warship Support Agency

U.K. based software house Marine Software Ltd has successfully supplied Marine Planned Maintenance to the U.K. Agency, for a number of their Challenger Class Yachts. In order to meet the Ministry of Defense s specific operational requirements, these Challenger Class Yacht systems will be office based software using Office Planned Maintenance for Windows.
