The Port of Los Angeles hit a new volume record in June as U.S. businesses race to replenish stocks and build inventories for the back-to-school, Christmas and other holiday shopping seasons.Total volume at the Port of Los Angeles hit 876,430 20-foot equivalent units (TEU) in June, up 27% versus the year earlier, port authorities said. Starting February 2017, HDASCO Line provides a new commercial offer between HAROPA – Port of Le Havre and many Iranian and Iraqi ports. HDASCO Line (Hafez Darya Arya Shipping Company), also named HDS lines, is the Iranian national shipping company specialized in container transport and a subsidiary of IRISL Group (Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines). This new service offers very competitive transit times: 19 days between Le Havre and Bandar Abbas for example. It will call at the following ports: Bandar Abbas, Asaluyeh, Bandar Iman, Khomeini, Busher and Khorramsharh in Iran and the port of Um Qasr in Iraq. The service will also call ports of: Malta/Khor Fakkam/Jebel Ali/Xingang/Busan/Qingdao/Shanghai/Ningbo/Yantian/Port Kelang.

United Arab Shipping Company's (UASC) newest vessel, the 18,800 teu Barzan, has made its maiden call at the Port of Felixstowe, the Port of Britain. The biggest container ship in the UASC fleet, the mega-ship arrived at the UK's largest container port from Port Kelang in Malaysia. The Barzan is deployed on UASC's AEC1 service between Asia and North Europe. "We are delighted to welcome the latest vessel in the UASC fleet to the port of Felixstowe. The CMA CGM Group informs it has reorganized its container shipping lines between Asia and Europe with the reshuffle of its FAL1 and FAL3 services to better meet clients’ needs and optimize vessel utilization, notably increasing Chinese ports coverage with the group’s largest ships. Eleven crew of a Chinese cargo ship are missing following a collision with a large container ship in the waters off Hong Kong on Monday, authorities said. Hong Kong is one of the world's busiest shipping channels, although serious accidents are rare. The cargo ship Zhong Xing 2 sank after the collision with the 300-m- (984-ft-) long Marshall Islands-registered MOL Motivator about two nautical miles southwest of Po Toi Island, a spokeswoman of the Hong Kong Maritime Department said. "Zhong Xing 2 is suspected to have sunk after the collision, and it is reported there are 12 crew onboard," said the spokeswoman, who declined to be identified in line with department policy. "One of them was picked up by a fishing vessel navigating close by," she added.

CMA CGM Jules Verne, the world’s largest containership (16,000 twenty-foot equivalent units), and sailing under the French flag was officially inaugurated by French President François Hollande in Marseille, on June 4. The CMA CGM Jules Verne arrived on June 3 at Marseille for an exceptional call and was welcomed by thousands of local people and employees from CMA CGM’s Head Office. Her inauguration was a fitting celebration to mark the 35th anniversary of a Group that was founded in Marseille by Jacques R. Saadé in 1978.

United Arab Shipping Company increases its fleet with more 13,500 TEU vessels; The United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) names 13,500 TEU containership in Hamburg on 25 May. The AIN SNAN was delivered after a nine-month building phase in January of this year. The UMM SALAL, the first of nine UASC new builds in this size class already went into service in June 2011. During the course of the first five months of this year all nine vessels have been delivered from the builder Samsung Heavy Industries Shipyard in Korea, with whom the order was placed in July 2008.

The United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) has named it’s new 13,500 TEU containership Ain Snan at a ceremony in Hamburg, following a nine-month building phase. The last of a series of nine UASC newbuilds from the Samsung Heavy Industries Shipyard in Korea, the 366-metre-long and 48 metre-wide ultra large container ship (ULCS) has a loading capacity of over 145,000 DWT, providing a capacity of more than 800 slots for refrigerated containers. The ship is deployed on the AEC8 Far East, Red Sea, Europe Service in which CMA CGM and CSCL shipping lines are also partners which they market as FAL 2 / AEX 7. In addition, Yang Ming, Hanjin and COSCO, have booked slots on this service.

The ceremony was performed by 'Godmother', Mrs. Naila Saadé, President of the CMA CGM Corporate Foundation and wife of Mr. Jacques R. Saadé, CMA CGM Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. The new 16 000 TEU vessel, owned by CMA CGM, sails under the UK flag. Built by DSME (Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering) in South Korea, the ship is 396 meters long, 54 meters wide, with a draft of 16 meters.

The ship is a 16,000 TEU vessel, owned by CMA CGM, sailing under the UK flag. Built by DSME (Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering) in South Korea, the ship displays exceptional dimensions at 396 x 54m, with a draft of 16m. CMA CGM Marco Polo is the first of a series of three 16,000 TEU vessels, will to be named after great explorers. The delivery of the two next vessels is expected in 2013.
