NKT Nets Firm Order for Dogger Bank C Export Cables

Danish offshore cable supplier NKT has secured the high-voltage turnkey order for the Dogger Bank C, the third phase of what will be the world's largest offshore wind farm, in the UK.NKT had previously entered into a Preferred Supplier Agreement (PSA) as the main contractor for delivery and installation of high-voltage DC on- and offshore export cable systems for the Dogger Bank C.Now, the company has secured the contract award with the project owners Equinor (50%) and SSE Renewables (50%). The contract award is subject to Dogger Bank C reaching financial close in late 2021.

'Largest Ever' Offshore Wind Financial Close Reached for World's Largest Offshore Wind Farm

Equinor and SSE have announced a financial close on the first two phases of the world's largest offshore wind farm project - the Dogger Bank in the UK North Sea.Dogger Bank wind farm is a joint venture between SSE Renewables, who are leading the construction of the offshore wind farm, and Equinor, who will operate the 3.6GW project during its lifetime of at least 25-years. When completed, Dogger Bank will be the world’s largest offshore wind farm.The overall wind farm is being built in three 1.2GW phases; Dogger Bank A, Dogger Bank B, and Dogger Bank C.

Volvo Penta, Danfoss Editron Power Hybrid CTVs

A pair of hybrid-electric crew transfer vessels (CTV) being built for Danish operator MHO&Co will be powered by propulsion systems manufacturer Volvo Penta and electrification specialist Danfoss Editron.The 35-meter CTVs were designed by MHO&Co in cooperation with Incat Crowther in the U.K. and Australia and are being constructed at the Afai Southern Shipyard in China for delivery in 2021.Volvo Penta marine gensets will help power these vessels – the electric propulsion power for the driveline will come from five variable speed Volvo D8 gensets.

World’s Largest Offshore Wind Farm Generates First Power

The first turbine of the 1,218-MW Hornsea 1 offshore wind farm in the North Sea, the world’s biggest such facility, has been installed and is now generating power.Matthew Wright, UK managing director of Danish energy group Ørsted A/S, described the installation of the first turbine as "a globally significant milestone".Ørsted co-owns the project with Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) after selling a 50% stake to the latter in November 2018. Ørsted began offshore construction just over a year ago, and expects the project to be completed by Q1 2020.The project is located 120km off the Yorkshire Coast and will consist of 174 Siemens Gamesa 7MW turbines.

ABB Wins Order for World's Biggest Offshore Wind Farm

Boskalis Wins Work for Hornsea Offshore Wind Farm

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. said it has been awarded a contract by DONG Energy Wind Power A/S for the transport and installation of the foundations for a part of the Hornsea Offshore Wind Farm Project One. The entire wind farm will generate a total capacity of 1,200 MW and is located approximately 120 kilometers off the Yorkshire coast, U.K.   The transport and installation of the foundations will be executed by Boskalis' new offshore transport and installation crane vessel for which an existing F-class heavy transport vessel is currently being converted. The vessel will be equipped with a 3,000-ton mast crane, dynamic positioning (DP2) and additional accommodation for up to 150 people.

World's Largest Wind Turbines Installed off UK Coast

Dong Energy has installed the first of the world's largest wind turbines, which are taller and wider than the London Eye, at its Burbo Bank windfarm off the coast of Britain in the Irish Sea, it said on Thursday. The 32 turbines, made by Vestas, will each be able to generate 8 megawatts (MW) of electricity, stand 195 metres tall from sea level and have a rotor diameter of 164 metres. "This will be the first commercial deployment of the world's largest wind turbines," Benj Sykes, Dong's UK country manager for wind power, told Reuters.

A2SEA Wins Hornsea One Contract

From spring 2019, A2SEA will play a key role in building the world’s largest ever offshore wind farm, Hornsea Project One for DONG Energy. Capacity will be 1.2GW. A2SEA will deploy its purpose-built offshore installation vessel Sea Installer to install a part of the 174 Siemens 7MW turbines. ”It is a great pleasure and with pride that we can inform that A2SEA has signed a contract to in-stall turbines at what will become the world’s largest offshore wind farm, Hornsea Project One," says Jens Frederik Hansen, CEO at A2SEA. SMC to Provide Marine Coordination for Siemens

Specialist Marine Consultants Ltd (SMC) have been working with Siemens, providing offshore marine coordination for a fifth Siemens Wind Power construction project. The Butendiek offshore wind farm in the North Sea began construction in early 2014, and is due for completion mid-2015. SMC, based on the UK Yorkshire coast, have been working offshore undertaking marine coordination for the 80 turbine site. SMC provides specialist services to the offshore renewable and oil and gas sectors including HSE advisory services, marine coordination, client representation and vessel auditing.

'Titanic' Shipyard Reinventing Itself

Harland & Wolff in Belfast have been awarded a valuable contract to help build a wind farm substation in the North Sea. The company will build substation jackets and piles for energy company E.On to help make up the foundations of the Humber Gateway offshore wind farm, which is based a few miles off the east Yorkshire Coast, reports the Belfast Telegraph. Dong Energy to Build Westermost Rough OWF

DONG Energy to build this offshore wind farm (OWF) located in the North Sea off the British east coast. The construction will represent a total investment of approximately EUR 1 billion including the construction of the transmission assets. When the wind farm goes into operation, the transmission assets will be sold to an offshore transmission operator, as required by UK regulation. Westermost Rough will consist of 35 turbines from Siemens Wind Power, each of 6.0 megawatt, with a total capacity of 210 megawatt. It will be able to supply CO2-free power corresponding to the annual power consumption of almost 210,000 British households.

ABB has won an order worth around $15 million from E.ON UK, to supply the power export cables for the Humber Gateway offshore wind farm. When completed, in 2015, Humber Gateway will consist of a 73 wind turbine array that will generate up to 219 MW of electricity, enough to power up to 170,000 homes.
