Danish offshore cable supplier NKT has secured the high-voltage turnkey order for the Dogger Bank C, the third phase of what will be the world's largest offshore wind farm, in the UK.NKT had previously entered into a Preferred Supplier Agreement (PSA) as the main contractor for delivery and installation of high-voltage DC on- and offshore export cable systems for the Dogger Bank C.Now, the company has secured the contract award with the project owners Equinor (50%) and SSE Renewables (50%). The first turbine of the 1,218-MW Hornsea 1 offshore wind farm in the North Sea, the world’s biggest such facility, has been installed and is now generating power.Matthew Wright, UK managing director of Danish energy group Ørsted A/S, described the installation of the first turbine as "a globally significant milestone".Ørsted co-owns the project with Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) after selling a 50% stake to the latter in November 2018. Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. said it has been awarded a contract by DONG Energy Wind Power A/S for the transport and installation of the foundations for a part of the Hornsea Offshore Wind Farm Project One. The entire wind farm will generate a total capacity of 1,200 MW and is located approximately 120 kilometers off the Yorkshire coast, U.K. The transport and installation of the foundations will be executed by Boskalis' new offshore transport and installation crane vessel for which an existing F-class heavy transport vessel is currently being converted. The vessel will be equipped with a 3,000-ton mast crane, dynamic positioning (DP2) and additional accommodation for up to 150 people.
World's Largest Wind Turbines Installed off UK Coast
Dong Energy has installed the first of the world's largest wind turbines, which are taller and wider than the London Eye, at its Burbo Bank windfarm off the coast of Britain in the Irish Sea, it said on Thursday. The 32 turbines, made by Vestas, will each be able to generate 8 megawatts (MW) of electricity, stand 195 metres tall from sea level and have a rotor diameter of 164 metres. "This will be the first commercial deployment of the world's largest wind turbines," Benj Sykes, Dong's UK country manager for wind power, told Reuters.

Specialist Marine Consultants Ltd (SMC) have been working with Siemens, providing offshore marine coordination for a fifth Siemens Wind Power construction project. The Butendiek offshore wind farm in the North Sea began construction in early 2014, and is due for completion mid-2015. SMC, based on the UK Yorkshire coast, have been working offshore undertaking marine coordination for the 80 turbine site. SMC provides specialist services to the offshore renewable and oil and gas sectors including HSE advisory services, marine coordination, client representation and vessel auditing.

DONG Energy to build this offshore wind farm (OWF) located in the North Sea off the British east coast. The construction will represent a total investment of approximately EUR 1 billion including the construction of the transmission assets. When the wind farm goes into operation, the transmission assets will be sold to an offshore transmission operator, as required by UK regulation. Westermost Rough will consist of 35 turbines from Siemens Wind Power, each of 6.0 megawatt, with a total capacity of 210 megawatt. It will be able to supply CO2-free power corresponding to the annual power consumption of almost 210,000 British households.
