Diana Shipping Orders Two Methanol Dual-fuel Bulkers

Greek shipowner Diana Shipping on Wednesday announced it has placed an order for two new methanol dual-fuel Kamsarmax bulk carriers from China's Tsuneishi Group (Zhoushan) Shipbuilding Inc.The 81,200 dwt newbuilds were ordered at a purchase price of $46 million each, Diana said. Voyage Optimization Can Slash Emissions by 7.3% -Study

A vessel’s fuel consumption and CO2 emissions can be reduced by up to 7.3% by using voyage optimization software, a recent study shows. Marubeni Taps 'Suction Sails' for Bulk Carrier

MMSL PTE. LTD., a wholly owned subsidiary of Marubeni Corporation based in Singapore signed an agreement with bound4blue to install four suction sails on the Crimson Kingdom, making it the first wind-assisted vessel owned by Marubeni. Ship management company Fleet Management Limited (FLEET), part of the Caravel Group, said it has launched a new integrated ship management unit – MaruFleet Management Pte Ltd – in Singapore in collaboration with MMSL Pte. Ltd. (MMSL), a Singapore subsidiary of Marubeni Corporation. MaruFleet will provide dedicated ship management services to MMSL. Eneti, a company until recently known as Scorpio Bulkers, has completed the exit from its bulk carrier business and has also completed the acquisition of Seajacks, boosting its offshore wind ambitions.In its quarterly results release on Tuesday, Eneti said it had on August 12 completed the previously announced transaction to acquire offshore wind installation firm Seajacks for consideration of around 8.13 million shares, $302 million of assumed net debt, $71 million of newly-issued redeemable notes, and $12 million of cash.

Offshore wind services company Eneti announced on Thursday it has entered into an agreement to acquire rival Seajacks, creating one of the world's largest, most capable fleets of wind turbine installation vessels (WTIV).Eneti said its deal with sellers Marubeni Corporation, INCJ, Ltd. and Mitsui O.S.K., Lines Ltd. will see it acquire 100% of Atlantis Investorco Limited, the parent of Seajacks International Limited, for consideration of approximately 8.13 million shares, $299 million of assumed net debt, $74 million of newly-issued redeemable notes, and $12 million of cash.

MHI Vestas Wins First OWF Order in Japan

MHI Vestas Offshore Wind has signed a firm order with Akita Offshore Wind Corporation (AOW) to supply turbines for the Akita Noshiro Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) Project. This is the first firm order in Japan for the Danish wind turbines manufacturer."In a sector first for a utility-scale project in Japan, MHI Vestas Offshore Wind has completed firm and unconditional orders to supply turbines for the Akita and Noshiro offshore wind farms, jointly referred to as the Akita Noshiro Offshore Wind Farm Project," said a press release from the company.The wind farms have an expected combined output of 139 MW.MHI Vestas will supply 33 V117-4.2 MW turbines in total, to be installed with fixed-bottom foundations at both sites.

Japanese Firms in Brazilian FPSO Gig

Japanese companies have decided to proceed with the deepwater floating production, storage, and offloading system (FPSO) charter project for the Petrobras-operated Búzios pre-salt oil field located offshore Brazil.MODEC, Mitsui & Co., Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), and Marubeni Corporation have agreed that Mitsui, MOL, and Marubeni will invest in a long-term charter business currently promoted by MODEC for the purpose of providing  FPSO for use on the Búzios field off the coast of Brazil.Based on these agreements, Mitsui, MOL and Marubeni will invest in Buzios5 MV32 B.V. Four Japanese Companies Join Modec in Sepia FPSO Deal

Four Japanese companies will invest in a new company established by compatriot Modec with an aim to provide a floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit for the Petrobras-operated Sepia field offshore Brazil. "MODEC, Mitsui, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Marubeni Corporation and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co have agreed to jointly invest in a long-term charter business currently promoted by MODEC, for providing a FPSO in the Sepia Area, off the coast of Brazil," said a press release. Marubeni, PTT Plan LNG Bunkering in Thailand

Marubeni Corporation started a joint feasibility study with PTT Public Company Limited, Thailand`s national petroleum and petrochemical company, which aims at implementing LNG refueling to ships in Laem Chabang Port, the largest industrial port in Thailand. The regulation of exhaust gas will be tightened from 2020, and since LNG is an environmentally friendly fuel, ships that use LNG for fuel (LNG fueled ships) are expected to increase. In Laem Chabang Port, where more than 8,000 ships arrive and leave annually, a third expansion plan is being implemented with the demand for LNG bunkering expected to grow in this area due to increased exports and the tightening of environmental regulations.

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Marubeni, NOVATEK Sign MoU for LNG Transshipment

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) and Marubeni Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Moscow with PAO NOVATEK, Russia's largest independent gas production and sales company, to conduct a joint feasibility study aimed at establishing an LNG transshipment and marketing complex in the Kamchatka area. This Project will create offshore infrastructure to transship LNG cargoes from ice-breaking LNG ships to standard LNG ships. The LNG will be produced in LNG projects NOVATEK is implementing in the Arctic region. The Project will ensure flexible LNG supply to the Asia-Pacific region. Marubeni and MOL will contribute not only to the mutual relationship between Japan and Russia, but to the stable supply of LNG to the Asian-Pacific region including Japan.
