Port of South Louisiana Buys Avondale Global Gateway

The Port of South Louisiana (Port SL) said it has reached a deal with T. Parker Host to buy the Avondale Global Gateway, a logistics hub at site of the former Avondale Shipyard.The acquisition of this 254-acre facility at mile 108 of the Mississippi River will allow the port to be more competitive in traditional international trade and focus on the new frontier of renewable energy development, Port SL said.The purchase and sale agreement was announced Thursday by Port SL CEO Paul Matthews following unanimous approval from the port commission.

Louisiana Ports Seek Federal Aid for Ida Recovery

Several south Louisiana ports are requesting federal assistance to bolster recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Ida.On August 29, Ida made landfall in southeast Louisiana as a category 4 storm, heavily impacting local infrastructure, waterways and communities.The Lower Mississippi River opened three days later, and by September 2, the Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) resumed limited operations and became fully operational September 7. Although operations resumed, there remains ongoing assessment of needs, and supply chain disruptions also continue.

Port of New Orleans Resumes Containership Operations After Hurricane Ida

Container vessel operations resumed at the Port of New Orleans on Tuesday, nine days after Hurricane Ida made landfall in southeast Louisiana as a category 4 storm.The first two ships worked at the Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal were the MSC Charleston at New Orleans Terminal and the Hapag Lloyd CSL Manhattan at Ports America. Construction Co., LLC, New Orleans, Louisiana, a US$116,956,672 firm-fixed-price contract with options for the Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control Project's widening of the Florida Avenue Canal, Phase II and III, Orleans Parish, Louisiana. Bisso Lays Pipe from Dive Support Vessel

Bisso Marine, provider of energy and maritime support services, recently completed a pipelay project off the Southeast Louisiana coast. Dive crews aboard the DSV Joseph Bisso laid 900 ft of six-inch pipe at a water depth of 66 ft about 20 miles south of Grand Isle in the Gulf of Mexico. The pipeline was laid using a portable lay system and the vessel’s 30-ton hydraulic crane.
