Megayacht Launched from Cargo Ship in Turkey

Cargo ship HHL Valparaiso’s two 700 ton cranes have lifted a new luxury yacht built by Sunrise Yachts from the dock to the sea for its world premiere in Antalya, Turkey.

 
HANSA HEAVY LIFT has used two of its on-board cranes, which have a combined lifting capacity of up to 1,400 metric tons to maneuver the 900 metric ton and 63.1 meter long megayacht M/Y Irimari into the sea.
 
“This was a very sensitive heavy lift operation that required special engineering expertise at each stage, from planning to execution,” said Emek Takmaz, Project & Transport Engineer, HANSA HEAVY LIFT.
 
“From the moment the project started we were in close contact with our customer to enable a detailed design process ensuring that the yacht would not be scratched or damaged during the recent move.”
 
“Our in-house team of engineers always works closely with our clients to develop customized solutions to ensure the safe delivery of cargo of all sizes,” said Ian Broad, Director Cargo Management, HANSA HEAVY LIFT. “During the project’s planning stage, we determined the most suitable lifting arrangement and operation steps that helped us to eliminate all of the possible risks involved.”
 
HANSA HEAVY LIFT said its engineers had to carefully select the frames to carry the yacht in order to maintain its structural integrity. Furthermore, close attention was paid to suspension stability due to the difference in the shapes of the frames.
