AIDA Cruises placed an approximate euro 630 million ordered for two club ships of a new generation from Papenburg, Germany
-based shipyard Meyer Werft. The 68,500-gt, 817 ft. ships will be designed and built to offer 2,030 guests a unique experience, as they are designed to permit a wide range of additional attractions in the areas of entertainment, dining, spa and sport.
“With these ships we are progressing our successful AIDA concept,” said Michael Thamm
, President of AIDA Cruises. “We are confident that we will continue to develop the great potential of the German cruise market with the new vessels. Of course, we are particularly pleased to have been able to place this key order in Germany.”
According to Meyer Werft, the order will secure over 2,100 jobs in the long term. “We are looking forward to realizing two ambitious new vessels for AIDA Cruises, the most innovative German cruise company,” Bernard Meyer, Managing Director of Jos. L. Meyer GmbH said. “These exciting new vessels will set the standard for the future of German cruising for many years to come.”
