Seismic Business Link-up: Mitcham's Seamap & PGS

Mitcham Industries' marine equipment manufacturing unit, Seamap, has signed a manufacturing agreement with a subsidiary of Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS). Over the past several months, Seamap and PGS have collaborated to develop PGS SourceLink, a customized and proprietary marine energy source controller based on Seamap's GunLink 4000 system. Under the terms of the arrangement, Seamap will manufacture and sell the PGS SourceLink systems to PGS, as requested. Guy Malden, Executive Vice President of Marine Systems of Mitcham Industries, stated, "We are delighted to have established this new relationship with one of the leaders in the marine seismic business.

Polarcus Innovation in Seismic Vessel Design

Polarcus Limited received its eighth 3D seismic vessel on 21 June 2012 when Polarcus Adira was delivered at Ulstein Verft in Norway. The vessel is the second of two 12-14 streamer Arctic 3D seismic vessels built at the yard, and is the eighth vessel in the Polarcus fleet of the Ulstein SX134 design. Mitcham Industries 4Q & Year-End Results

Mitcham Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ:MIND) announced financial results for its fiscal 2009 fourth quarter and year ended January 31, 2009. The company reported total revenues of $16.2m for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009 compared to $20.8m in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2008. Net income for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009 was $421,000, or $0.04 per diluted share, compared to net income of $3.3m, or $0.32 per diluted share, for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2008. Fourth quarter earnings were impacted by a $2.4m charge to the company's provision for doubtful accounts and a gain of $580,000 resulting from an insurance settlement on equipment destroyed during Hurricane Ike. Absent these two items, fourth quarter 2009 net income was approximately $1.6m, or $0.16 per diluted share.

Mitcham Industries 3Q 2009 Results

Mitcham Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ:MIND) announced financial results for its fiscal 2009 third quarter ended October 31, 2008. Core leasing revenues increased 19 percent to $10m for the third quarter of fiscal 2009 from $8.4m for the third quarter of fiscal 2008. Net income for the third quarter increased to $2.7m, or $0.27 per diluted share, from $2.4m, or $0.24 per diluted share, in the third quarter of fiscal 2008. The company announced today that Seamap was awarded orders totaling approximately $11m by The Polarcus Group of Companies (Polarcus), a new entrant in the marine seismic market, to equip all six of its new state-of-the-art vessels with the GunLink 4000 fully distributed digital gun controller systems and BuoyLink RGPS tail buoy positioning systems.

KMSS Seals Brazilian Contracts

Kongsberg Maritime Ship Systems (KMSS) has taken orders to provide over $3 million worth of services and equipment to Petrobras and Metalnave SA, both based in Brazil. KMSS products are also set to be displayed at this years World Petroleum Expo, to be held in Rio this September. KMSS will supply Autrocargo cargo monitoring systems for the Petrobras P-43 and P-48 Floating Production Storage and Offloading Vessels (FPSO’s), currently under construction in Singapore and Brazil and bound for the Barracuda and Caratinga field developments. Petrobras has 11 FPSO’s in operation and under construction, 8 of which have been fitted out with KMSS systems.

KMSS Awarded Kalmar Contract

Kongsberg Maritime Ship Systems (KMSS) has been awarded the contract to upgrade and relocate simulator facilities for the Kalmar Maritime Academy in Sweden. The academy, the largest of its kind in Sweden will relocate to a coastal location at the end of 2002, when KMSS will deliver the order. KMSS has already delivered and installed 5 Databridge 10 and 5 SeaMap 10 units in the training vessel ‘MS Calmare Nyckel’, owned by the Kalmar Maritime Academy. The latest order is for a Navigation Simulator Upgrade, Cargo handling simulator and a GMDSS training unit. The extensive simulator upgrade package consists of the latest navigation equipment from KMSS including the Databridge 10 radar/ARPA and the Seamap 10 ECDIS.
