MTNW Rebrands as Rugged Controls

Rugged Controls, LLC announced its launch, evolving from Measurement Technology NW Line Control Instruments (LCI) group, who since 2001 has provided line control, tension monitoring, and winch monitoring equipment. Rugged Controls said it will continue to manufacture MTNW’s previous product portfolio including running line tensiometers, smart deck machinery and LCI flagship displays, which are used in extreme, marine and outdoor environments where rugged, high visibility electronics are required for operation. MTNW Installs Anchor Winch Monitor for KHAN Offshore

Measurement Technology Northwest (MTNW) announced successful Anchor Winch Tension Monitoring system installation and commissioning on the KH-A1 Accommodation Crane Barge. KH-A1 is owned and operated by KHAN Offshore, an engineering, construction and service company based in Geoje, Korea in partnership with Prime Sources Limited, based in Lagos, Nigeria. This vessel currently supports Chevron Nigeria Limited’s operations. The project called for eight RL-20 running line tensiometers, and four dual winch displays, to monitor the anchor winch lines.

MTNW Debuts LCI-90i-IS Rugged Programmable Controller

Measurement Technology NW (MTNW) Launched its LCI-90i-IS Rugged Programmable Controller (RPC) has been awarded the globally recognized Underwriters Laboratories (UL) certification. UL quality approval allows customers to use the industry leading RPC in hazardous applications without additional testing or approvals. MTNW offers versions of its flagship display for winch, pump, crane, tank and torque applications. Underwriters Laboratories (UL) tested the LCI-90i-IS to meet applicable U.S. and Canadian standards. UL is a worldwide leader in product safety and certification.

Measurement Technology NW (MTNW) wins US Small Business Administration Excellence Award. The 'Excellence' award was given for supporting Lockheed Martin’s aerostat program with the US Defense Department. This award recognizes small businesses that have excelled in their performance in support of large prime contractors. “MTNW was nominated by Lockheed Martin because we were able to provide industry leading technology at a lower cost and in half the time of previous winch instrumentation and display providers,” said Tom Rezanka, Vice President MTNW.

MTNW Receives NSF Award to Retrofit Coast Guard Icebreakers

Seattle - Measurement Technology NW (MTNW) has announced an award from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to upgrade winch monitoring technology for the Coast Guard Icebreakers Healy and Polar Sea. This award brings new MTNW hardware and software technology to the support of winch operations, which are mission critical to these Arctic research vessels. NSF and the Coast Guard are working with MTNW because the Line Control Instruments’ (LCI) monitoring and control system provides advanced technology for on-deck safety, reliability, and research accuracy.

MTNW Completes Project for USACE

MTNW Completes USACE St. Louis District Dust Pan Dredge Mooring Monitoring Project for US Army Corp of Engineers. Measurement Technology NW’s Mooring Line Monitoring System Retrofits US Army Corp Dredge Potter. Measurement Technology NW (MTNW) announces successful implementation of its running line tensiometer technology with the US Army Corp of Engineers Dredge Potter. MTNW collaborated with C&J Offshore and Ockerman Consulting to ensure the mooring line monitoring project was successful from the initial design to the final installation and commissioning.

MTNW & Delmar – New Approaches to Offshore Mooring

Measurement Technology NW (MTNW) implemented its running line tensiometer (RLT) technology with a Samson synthetic rope in an offshore mooring monitoring project engineered by Delmar Systems. This implementation is MTNW’s first use of tension measurement technology with 2”+ synthetic ropes. Recently, Delmar Systems was contracted to moor an offshore supply vessel (OSV) to a major offshore platform in the Gulf of Mexico. The OSV is being used as a support vessel while dive operations are conducted.

MTNW Completes Anchor Winch Monitoring Project in Nigeria for Adamac

March 16, 2011. Seattle, WA. Measurement Technology NorthWest (MTNW) announces major award from Adamac, a leading Nigerian Oil & Gas Services Company based in Port Harcourt. The project called for 9 running line tensiometers, displays, and software to monitor the anchor winch lines for a pipe-laying barge. “The Gulf of Guinea off of Nigeria is one of the fastest growing new oil patches. It is becoming as criss-crossed with sub-sea pipes as any ocean in the world,” explained Tom Rezanka, Managing Director of MTNW.

MTNW Supports Frontier Drilling

Measurement Technology NW (MTNW) has recently completed a contract to provide installation, calibration and commissioning on an eight-point mooring monitoring system for Frontier’s drill ship, Duchess, off the coast of Nigeria. The new running line tensiometer and LCI-90 mooring monitoring system provides visibility into line tensions which will support mooring and rig movement monitoring. The Duchess is a 475 ft by 75 ft vessel which needs to stay centered over an offshore oil-well for months on end despite sea states and drilling activity.
