DNV Grants Approval for Liquid Hydrogen Cargo Containment System

CB&I, McDermott's storage business, has received Approval in Principle (AiP) for its design of a liquid hydrogen (LH2) cargo containment system from DNV.CB&I collaborated with Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited to provide safe LH2 shipping solutions that enable hydrogen energy supply chains using gas carriers.The containment system design is based on CB&I's proven vacuum-insulated spherical technology for onshore LH2 storage. Norsepower Rotor Sails Saves Fuel

Anadarko Shell Deal for Mozambique LNG

US company Anadarko Petroleum has signed a major long-term contract to shore up its proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Mozambique.The Woodlands-based oil and gas company said that  Mozambique LNG1 Company, the jointly owned sales entity of the Mozambique Area 1 co-venturers, has signed a Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with Shell International Trading Middle East. AET Names its First LNG-Fueled Aframax Pair

Petroleum and chemical tanker owner and operator  AET Tankers has named and welcomed its first LNG dual-fuelled aframax vessels, Eagle Brasilia and Eagle Bintulu.According to a press release of the Singapore-based company, the ceremony for the vessels was held at the Samsung Heavy Industry Co Ltd’s (SHI) shipyard in Geoje, South Korea. Shell, AET Deal for LNG Aframaxes

Malaysian-owned global shipping company specialising in the ocean transport of crude oil and refined products  AET Tankers and Shell International Trading and Shipping Company  formalised arrangements for the long-term charter of AET’s two newbuild liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuelled Aframax tankers. AET’s two 113,000 dwt vessels are currently being built by Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea and are due for delivery from Q3 of 2018. The arrangements will see Shell take both vessels on a long-term charter commencing in Q4 of this year. When operating in gas mode, the two AET tankers will emit up to 30% less CO2, 85% less NOx, 99% less SOx and 95% less particular matters, making them among the cleanest Aframax tankers in the market.

Kuwait Signs LNG Import Deal With Shell

Kuwait Petroleum Corp. (KPC) has signed a 15-year liquefied natural gas import deal with Royal Dutch Shell Plc to help the oil exporting nation meet growing domestic energy demand. A report in Bloomberg said that the sales purchasing agreement with Shell International Trading Middle East Ltd. will start in 2020. The contract will cover 2 million to 3 million metric tons of LNG a year. The volumes delivered under the contract will be used to fire up KPC’s power stations. A press release said that Kuwait wants cleaner burning energy sources such as natural gas to reduce emissions and improve air quality. The deal would “provide fuel to power stations in Kuwait,” KPC said in the statement but did not disclose the value of the deal or the volumes that will be supplied.

Nakilat, Shell Completes First Phase of LNG Carrier Management Transition

Nakilat Shipping Qatar Limited (NSQL) a wholly owned subsidiary of Nakilat and Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited (Shell), have completed the first phase of what will be the world’s largest management transition of LNG carriers. The Q-Max LNG carrier Al Mafyar was the 10th vessel to transition from Shell to NSQL management in 10 months, bringing about the successful completion of the first phase. Al Mayfar is wholly-owned by Nakilat and chartered by Qatargas, with a cargo capacity of 266,370 cubic meters. The vessel built in South Korea by Samsung Heavy Industries was delivered in May 2009 and has been in service ever since. This latest vessel transition brings the fleet size managed by NSQL to 18 vessels, comprising of 14 LNG and 4 LPG carriers.

Oman Charter Company (OCC), a subsidiary of Oman Shipping Company (OSC), has entered into a contract of affreightment (COA) for its very large crude carriers (VLCCs) with Shell International Eastern Trading Company (Shell) for three years, reports Muscat Daily. OSC’s New Feeder Service Links Oman to UAE

Oman Shipping Company (OSC) is launching a new freight service linking all Omani ports to the United Arab Emirates by mid-April, 2016, in a move that aims to boost trade links. OSC’s new fortnightly Oman Express Service will be the first freight feeder operator to connect all Omani ports. It will be run by OSC subsidiary Oman Container Lines (OCL). OSC chief executive Tarik Mohamed Al Junaidi said the new service will be cheaper and faster than the road transport which currently handles all freight to the interiors.

Over 60 Vessels Transit Expanded Panama Canal

The Expanded Panama Canal has transited 69 Neopanamax vessels since the Inauguration on June 26, 2016. Specifically, 40 containerships, 24 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers, three vehicle carriers and two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers have transited the Expanded Canal. These LNG vessels were the first to transit the waterway since the Canal opened trade possibilities to this new market segment. In addition, the Panama Canal has received 250 reservations and counting for the Expanded Canal, including seven cruise ship reservations. Since the Expanded Canal opened for business, major liners have rerouted service to the Panama Canal to take advantage of the significant time savings the waterway provides.

Nakilat takes over first LNG carrier management from Shell

Nakilat has announced the management takeover of Q-Max LNG carrier Mozah from Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited (STASCO). This is the first vessel to be transitioned as part of the phased management transition. Mozah will also be the first Q-Max LNG carrier to be managed in-house by NSQL, which is currently managing 4 Q-Flex LNG and 4 large LPG carriers.
