Kuosa Named CEO of NAPA

Maritime software, services and data analysis provider NAPA announced the appointment of Mikko Kuosa as Chief Executive Officer. Kuosa assumes the position from Ilmo Kuutti, who served as CEO of NAPA Group for three years. Kuutti continues as an Advisor and a member of the NAPA Board of Directors.Mikko Kuosa, who joined NAPA in 1999, holds a master’s degree in Naval Architecture from Helsinki University of Technology, Finland. Since joining, Kuosa has taken on various leadership positions at NAPA.

DSME Selects NAPA Steel to Transform Ship Design Processes

Maritime software, services and data analysis provider NAPA has announced that shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has selected 3D model-based NAPA Steel software to streamline design processes and meet the needs of 21st century naval architects and structure designers. DSME chose NAPA Steel thanks to its transformative effect on the ship design process, following an extensive benchmarking process involving multiple vendors. NAPA Group Names Kuutti President

Software solution provider for ship design and operation NAPA Group (Napa Ltd.) has appointed Ilmo Kuutti as its new President. Kuutti assumes the position from Juha Heikinheimo, who served as President of NAPA Group for five and a half years. Kuutti holds a master’s degree in naval architecture from Helsinki University of Technology, Finland. He started his career in shipyards, where he undertook various roles throughout the 1980s. Napa, ABS Team on Safehull Express

The ongoing collaboration between Napa Ltd and ABS has culminated in the recent release of a new version of SafeHull, called SafeHull Express. SafeHull Express is used for the design and assessment of ship structures in accordance with the ABS rules. The new and upcoming versions of ABS SafeHull Express are based on NAPA technology and functions, developed through cooperation between Napa Ltd and ABS Americas. The joining of forces has resulted in the integration of a complete initial strength assessment system into the shipyard production process. This is the first time such integration has been achieved. The fundamental benefit of integration is that a single 3D ship model can be used consistently in various system environments, which makes the design-to-production process one continuum.
