ABS Nautical Systems Signs Caspian Drilling Company

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

July 30, 2012

Caspian Drilling Company, based in Azerbaijan, will install ABS Nautical Systems’ NS5 Enterprise software on four of its drilling rigs.

Three of these rigs will take advantage of the ABS Newbuild Program and the Transfer of Class Agreement Initiative (TOCA)* by implementing the Hull Inspection and Maintenance & Repair modules.  A Survey Planning Document will be prepared for each of these rigs as well.   Utilizing these offerings represents a savings of over $300,000 in software licenses, database development and consulting services.  All rigs will also implement the Purchasing & Inventory module along with Accounts Payable and Purchasing Accrual interfaces.

These modules will allow Caspian to track the structural condition of their vessels while managing the functions of maintenance and supply chain management.  The survey planning document will help identify areas of the hull structure to be surveyed during annual inspections and serve as a means for maintaining  compliance with classification.

(*)The ABS Newbuild Program and TOCA offer free software to ABS-classed newbuilds, as well as any asset that transfers class to ABS.
