Bulgarian Naval Academy Acquires VSTEP Simulators

On the 6th of August 2016, the official opening ceremony for The Centre for Integrated Management and Monitoring of the Coastal Zone was inaugurated by Mr. Boyko Borisov, the Prime Minister of Bulgaria. At the opening ceremony were present the Rector of the Academy, Commodore Prof. DSc Boyan Mednikarov and Deputy Chief of Educational and Scientific Activities, Captain Prof. Dr Kalin Kalinov. Among the official guests were parliament members from the Bulgarian government, representatives of other Bulgarian authorities, members of the military, ambassadors and representatives of the maritime industry. Bulgaria, Greece to Consider Greek LNG terminal

Bulgarian state energy holding company BEH and Greek natural gas company Gastrade have set up a joint task force to prepare a proposal to build an off-shore liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in northern Greece, Gastrade said on Tuesday. Greece currently has one LNG terminal on an islet off Athens and Gastrade, part of Greek energy group Copelouzos, is planning a second LNG terminal near the northern city of Alexandroupolis. The task force will prepare and submit a proposal to the Bulgarian government for the best possible way to take part in the project, Gastrade said in a statement. Navibulgar Initiates Fleet Renewal Program

Navigation Maritime Bulgare (Navibulgar), the nationally-owned Bulgarian shipping company and the country's fourth largest business enterprise, has placed three tween-deckers on the sale and purchase market as part of its latest fleet renewal program. Last month the company invited tenders for the three 11,750 GT, Bulgarian-flag vessels in a new move to upgrade its fleet as it prepares for a possible privatization decision from the Bulgarian government. In a related development, Navibulgar announced its intention to invest in enhancing its fleet of over 50 bulk carriers, which are engaged in worldwide trading on the international charter market.

Transas to Supply VTMIS For Bulgarian Gov’t

Transas Marine Ltd. UK has been announced as the winner of the international tender for a large-scale VTMIS (Vessel Traffic Management and Information System), including GMDSS and UAIS subsystems sought by the Bulgarian government. On November 30, a multi-million contract was signed in Sofia between Transas Marine and the Ministry of Finance of Bulgaria, which was endorsed for financing by the European Community. The tender has been held under the framework of the Phare programme aimed at the financial support of countries of Central and East Europe in their preparations for joining the European Union. Transas Reports Another Successful Year

According to Transas, the year 2002 was marked by substantial growth in sales all over the world and their updated product line. During the year, Transas completed development of the new-generation 3000 line of navigational products. Now, this product line comprises Navi-Sailor 3000, the enhanced version of the electronic chart system with UAIS transponder interface; Navi-Radar 3000, PC-based radar display system; Navi-Conning 3000; and Navi-Fisher 3000, the ectronic chart system specifically adapted for fishery vessels. The line also includes Navi-Bridge 3000, a smart mini-IBS (Integrated Bridge System) designed to make ship control easier and more efficient.
