Crude Tanker Rates Expected to Stay Strong Despite Russia Turmoil

Prospects for the crude oil tanker market are expected to stay strong for at least the next year helped by low ship ordering, despite the loss of some trade from Russia due to Western sanctions, leading ship operators say.Russia has increased exports to Asia, Africa and South America following the imposition of Western sanctions for its invasion of Ukraine.

Navios Taps Bryan as COO

Navios Maritime Holdings Inc. has hired Cargill's dry bulk trading head Jeremy J. Bryan as chief operating officer of Navios Corporation, effective as of February 1, 2019.Bryan, who worked at Cargill International S.A. since 1992, has served in various positions during his tenure there, most recently as global head of dry bulk trading, having previously served as the head of the Panamax and Handymax trading departments.He has also served as a Lieutenant in the Dutch Military and has a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Nijenrode Business University.

New York Shipping Conference: The New Normal

Examining key industry drivers is the focus of the 17th annual Hellenic-American and Norwegian-American Chambers of Commerce annual conference, often called the New York Shipping Conference. Entitled “Challenges & Opportunities for the Shipping Industry: Is There a New Normal?” the conference will present the macro shipping and economic overview, the impact of increasing environmental regulation on the shipping market, the availability of capital and its many forms, the growing influence of China and India on Shipping, and shipowners’ points of view. The event will be held on Tuesday, February 8th at the Waldorf-Astoria (a new venue for this event) starting at 0815 with conference registration and coffee.

Navios Maritime Announces Sasada as COO

Navios Maritime Holdings Inc. a large, global, vertically integrated seaborne shipping company, announced today that Sasada has been appointed Chief Operating Officer of Navios Corporation. O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOSK), as a salesmen. operations and chartering of approximately 30 Handysize vessels. In 1991, Sasada joined Trinity Bulk Carriers in Norway as its chartering manager and board member. Sasada subsequently launched MOSK's London operations as General Manager. Vice President Fleet Development. Tokyo, with a BA degree in Business. Navios also announced a new time charter of the Navios Esperanza, a panamax that will be delivered to Navios's long term chartered-in fleet in August of 2007.
