New RAmparts 3000 Tug for Boston Towing

Boston Towing and Transportation Company has taken delivery of the first of a new pair of tugs designed by Robert Allan Ltd., Naval Architects of Vancouver, B.C., for offshore LNG Terminal support for the Neptune LNG LLC, Deep Water Port, offshore Massachusetts Bay. The M.V. Justice is the smaller of the two tugs. It is a modified RAmparts 3000 Class tug which will primarily be engaged in harbour duties, but will serve as the back-up for the larger tug (the ASD 39/70 Class Independence) during the latter's service periods.

Boston Towing to Get New Support Tugs

Boston Towing and Transportation Company have contracted with Robert Allan Ltd., Naval Architects of Vancouver, B.C., to design a pair of new offshore LNG Terminal Support tugs to provide the services required for The Neptune LNG LLC, Deep Water Port, offshore Massachusetts Bay. The larger of the new vessels, designated as an ASD 39/70 Class tug by Robert Allan Ltd., will be the first of its kind built and operated in North America, although there are numerous other RALdesigned tugs, including many of the similar RAstar Class tugs currently building worldwide for major oil and LNG terminals. will primarily be engaged in harbour duties, but will serve as the back-up vessel for the larger tug during service periods.

Höegh LNG and Mitsui OSK Lines Confirm LNG Re-gasification Vessels

Höegh LNG and Mitsui OSK Lines, Ltd. (MOL) confirm the signing of long term time charter parties for two Shuttle and Regasification Vessels (SRV) with SUEZ LNG Trading SA. These vessels are specifically designed to service an offshore natural gas import terminal to be built in Massachusetts Bay offshore the city of Boston on the US East Coast. The vessels will be delivered in 2009 and 2010. The SUEZ owned Neptune LNG LLC received the final license issued by MARAD for the construction of the terminal on 23 March. The LNG re-gasification vessels and the deepwater port installations can meet the most stringent environmental regulations anywhere in the US for such terminal facilities.

Neptune LNG Deepwater Port Project Receives License From MarAd

SUEZ Energy North America's subsidiary, Neptune LNG LLC, announced today that the Neptune offshore LNG facility has received its Deepwater Port License. Neptune is the first offshore LNG project on the United States' East Coast to reach this milestone. The license will allow Neptune LNG LLC to build, own, and operate the Neptune offshore LNG delivery system in Massachusetts Bay. The Maritime Administration is responsible for issuing a Deepwater Port License under the Deepwater Port Act of 1974. The Neptune project will fill a growing need in Massachusetts and New England as demand for natural gas in New England is expected to increase by 1 to 2% per year over the next two decades, with Massachusetts alone accounting for half of the region's natural gas consumption.

Neptune LNG Project Secures Deep Water Port License

MarAd has decided to issue a deepwater port license to SUEZ Energy North America's subsidiary, Neptune LNG LLC to build, own, and operate the Neptune offshore LNG delivery system in Massachusetts Bay. Neptune is the first offshore LNG project on the United States' East Coast to reach this milestone. The Neptune terminal will be based on the LNG Shuttle and Regasification Vessel System (SRV) developed by Höegh LNG. Höegh LNG, together with partner Mitsui OSK Lines, has two plus one optional 145 000 m3 SRVs on order with Samsung Heavy Industries. The first will be delivered in 2009.

Neptune LNG Deepwater Port Project Receives Approval From MarAd

Suez Energy North America's subsidiary, Neptune LNG LLC, announced that the U.S. Maritime Administration (MarAd) has decided to issue a deepwater port license to the company to build, own, and operate the Neptune offshore LNG delivery system in Massachusetts Bay. Neptune is the first offshore LNG project on the United States' East Coast to reach this milestone. The Maritime Administration is responsible for issuing a deepwater port license under the Deepwater Port Act of 1974 ("Act"). The action by the Maritime Administration to approve a license for Neptune, which is included in its Record of Decision for the Project, follows SUEZ's December 13, 2006, commitment to promote employment opportunities for U.S.

The Maritime Administration (MarAd) and the US Coast Guard issued a notice stating that the final environmental impact statement for the Neptune LNG LLC liquefied natural gas (LNG) deepwater port (DWP) license application is available to review. The application describes a project to construct and operate an LNG DWP in federal waters of Massachusetts Bay approximately eight miles southeast of Gloucester. Public meetings will be held in Gloucester (November 14) and Salem (November 15). Written comments should be submitted by December 2. 71 Fed. Reg. 64606

Calypso LNG Deepwater Port Application Deemed Complete By Coast Guard

Suez Energy North America's subsidiary, Calypso LNG, LLC has received a letter from the United States Coast Guard deeming complete Calypso's application for a Deepwater Port License. A Notice of Application will be published in the Federal Register which will start a statutory review period for approval of a license to build and operate Calypso's proposed offshore liquefied natural gas facility. On March 1, 2006, Calypso filed a Deepwater Port License Application with the U.S. Coast Guard, which has jurisdiction for the permitting, operation and security for such facilities located in federal waters. The Maritime Administration (MarAd) issued a Notice stating that the draft environmental impact statement for the Neptune LNG LLC liquefied natural gas (LNG) deepwater port (DWP) license application is available for review. The application proposes construction of an LNG import facility in federal waters of Massachusetts Bay approximately 22 miles northeast of Boston.
