Norway's First LNG Bunkering Vessel Enters Service

Bergen Tankers’ newly converted liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering vessel—Norway's first—has recently entered service.The 49.25-meter vessel, Bergen LNG, is being operated by Gasnor (Shell) in the Bergen area and on the Norwegian west coast to supply the LNG-fueled passenger ships operated by Hurtigruten and Kystruten. BV Classes High-tech Research Vessel Jákup Sverri

Bureau Veritas (BV) said it has awarded classification to the research vessel Jákup Sverri, built in the Faroese MEST Shipyard. Bureau Veritas Issues New Rules for OSVs, Tugs

Classification society Bureau Veritas has issued new rules for the Classification of Offshore Service Vessels and Tugs, including new class notations for pipelay vessels, accommodation units, offshore construction vessels and offshore support vessels. Gijsbert de Jong, Bureau Veritas Marine Marketing and Sales Director, said: “With this new publication Bureau Veritas provides the industry with a clear framework for the classification of offshore service vessels and tugs based on an end-user friendly system of class notations reflecting the terminology used by the industry.

New Tug Guidelines from Bureau Veritas

International classification society Bureau Veritas has worked closely with the towing industry to develop a set of Guidelines for Design, Construction and Operation of Tugs. The Guidance Note provides safety rules for tugs in an area of marine safety where there are many vessels not covered by international conventions, with no established framework.
