Maersk's Svitzer, APM Terminals Hire 'Transformation' Executives

Danish shipping and logistics giant A.P. Moller-Maersk has appointed a pair of executives to lead transformation at its towage and terminals subsidiaries.Sabrina Weymiens has been named Head of Transformation at towage provider Svitzer, and Charlotte Guillaumie has been named Head of Strategy and Transformation at port operating company APM Terminals.Kasper Nilaus, CEO at Svitzer said, “We are delighted that Sabrina has accepted this new role and will help secure steady progress on our transformation roadmap.

(TSGI) announced it has hired mechanical engineer Ethan Johnson.Johnson graduated from the University of Houston with a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in Continuum Mechanics, Fluid Dynamics, Convection Heat Transfer, and Nonlinear Controls. COVID-19 Vaccine Offered Free for Seafarers

Crew services specialist Boers has launched seafarer vaccination programs at German and Belgian ports, as shipping executives warn of onboard COVID-19 outbreaks because mariners are not getting vaccines quick enough.Seafarers arriving at ports in Antwerp, Ghent and Zeebrugge can get one-shot COVID-19 jabs through Boers’ scheme, which is being launched to protect key workers in the shipping industry.The Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine will be available free of charge until further notice to all mariners of any nationality arriving in Belgium for crew changes.

ENERGY: Oil Rises on Vaccine Optimism, U.S. Stimulus

Oil prices open March 2021 on a strong note, supported by optimism about COVID-19 vaccinations, a U.S. stimulus package and growing factory activity in Europe despite coronavirus restrictions.Brent crude was up 63 cents or 1% at $65.05 a barrel by 1150 GMT, and U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude jumped 62 cents or 1% to $62.12 a barrel. At the 12th annual “Pulse of the Ports Peak Season Forecast,” panelists told the audience of about 550 people that cargo growth should continue through 2016 even though uncertainty remains as the economy and industry continue to evolve. Opportunities for Shipping from Decarbonisation Through Windpower

As the interconnector of global trade shipping facilitates every other part of the economy, and decision making around low-carbon pathways in other transport modes and industries will both influence and constrain decarbonisation in shipping. Whatever the outcomes at UNFCCC Conference of Parties (COP21) in Paris the shipping sector faces a huge challenge of rapid decarbonisation. Clear emission reduction goals and unequivicol leadership is essential. The shipping sector’s energy efficiency improvements are to be commended but to meet the scale and speed of decarbonisation necessary to reach the globally agreed 2 degree target step change technologies need to be rapidly developed.

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) and its president and CEO, Mike Petters, received the Reserve Officers Association's 2015 Nathan Hale Corporate Patriot Award presented at the ROA STARS Foundation Gala on Tuesday in Washington, D.C. The Nathan Hale Corporate Patriot Award is presented to a corporation and its senior leadership committed to serving the nation, military veterans and military reservists. Rolls-Royce announce that Ian Davis will succeed Sir Simon Robertson as Chairman. Mr. Davis will join the Board as a non-executive Director on 1 March 2013 and take over from Sir Simon at the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting on 2 May 2013. Ian Davis spent more than thirty years with McKinsey & Company, including six as Chairman and Worldwide Managing Director.
