Subsea Construction Vessel Launched in Azerbaijan

The vessel was named Khankendi by the President of Azerbaijan, H.E. Ilham Aliyev, at a ceremony in Baku Shipyard and launched by the Shah Deniz consortium. Baku Shipyard LLC, a joint venture between Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and Azerbaijan Investment Company (AIC), has completed a Subsea Construction Vessel (SCV) for the Caspian region. The Khankendi will be deployed to the Shah Deniz field where it is expected to perform subsea installation and construction work over the next eleven years.

Keppel on Track to Deliver Rig for Caspian Drilling

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M) through its subsidiary in Azerbaijan, Caspian Shipyard Company (CSC), is on track to deliver a semisubmersible drilling rig to Caspian Drilling Company Ltd, a subsidiary of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR). The rig was named Heydar Aliyev at a ceremony in Azerbaijan today by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. Built to Keppel FELS' proprietary DSSTM 38M design, the rig has been customized for the Caspian Sea's harsh environment condition. It is the first modern semisubmersible to be almost completely built in Azerbaijan.

5-Yrs Extension for Rig Heydar Aliyev

Maersk Drilling has been awarded a 5-year contract extension for the semi-submersible Heydar Aliyev rig with BP Exploration (Shah Deniz) Limited acting as Operator of  the Shah Deniz field . The rig will continue working on the development of the Shah Deniz field in the Caspian Sea offshore Azerbaijan. The extension is in direct continuation of the current contract ending May 2016 and extends the contract until May 2021. The estimated value of the contract extension is up to USD 523m. “We are very pleased with the extension for the Heydar Aliyev rig and look forward to continue our long standing cooperation with BP,” says Claus V. “With this contract we continue to build our contract backlog providing further revenue visibility.

Keppel Joint Venture, Azerbaijan Shipyard

President of Azerbaijan, HE Ilham Aliyev breaks ground for the new yard in the presence of Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr George Yeo. Fortifying its presence in the Caspian Region, Keppel Offshore & Marine Limited (Keppel O&M) joins hands with State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and Azerbaijan Investment Company (AIC) to develop and manage a new 52-ha shipbuilding and shiprepair facility in Baku, Azerbaijan. The new SOCAR-Keppel Shipyard will be developed over a period of two to three years with an investment of US$386 million.

J. Ray McDermott’s Caspian subsidiary has completed installation of offshore facilities at the Yuri Korchagin field for OOO LUKOIL-Nizhnevolzhskneft (LUKOIL), a subsidiary of OAO LUKOIL Oil Company. The Yuri Korchagin field is the first of the North Caspian fields in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea to be developed by LUKOIL and brought commercially on-stream. The field development requires a number of major offshore facilities including an ice-resistant fixed processing platform (LSP-1) and adjacent living quarters (LSP-2) joined together by a 243-foot bridge.

Palmali Launches Tanker

Palmali Group shipping company has put into operation a Suezmax tanker that replenished its overall fleet deadweight. The Company reported that the vessel was named in honor of national leader Heydar Aliyev of Azerbaijan. Its is length 274 m, width 50 m, sea-gauge 17 m. Heydar Aliyev is one of the series of Suezmax last generation built in South Korea. The tanker deal cost $96m. The vessel is designed for transportation of up to 165,000 tons of crude oil and heavy grades of petroleum products with unrestricted sailing area. The major advantage of the new tanker is its performance capability. Main routes start from ports of the Black and Mediterranean Seas running to ports of the United States and South-Eastern Asia. Launching of the next Suezmax tanker is scheduled for November 20.

New Palmali Vessel to be Launched

On June 24 the final sixth vessel of Heydar Aliyev type built with the request of Palmali Company by Russian shipbuilding plant in Volgograd will be launched into the water, Trend reports with reference to the company. This vessel will take the name of Mir Jalal Pashayev. Dead-weight tonnage of the ship is 6,970 thousand tones and length – 139,6 meters, width – 16,5 m, height of board – 6 m, the part remaining in the water – 4,6 m. The vessels attached to Valetta will sail under Maltese banner. The vessel will be involved in cargo transportations through Black and Mediterranean Seas and Atlantic Ocean. Source: Trend
