Horst Binnig to Succeed Dr. Gerd Kleinert as Rheinmetall CEO

Horst Binnig was appointed CEO of Rheinmetall Automotive's parent company KSPG AG and will take over beginning January 1, 2014. As Executive Board member of Rheinmetall AG, he will also represent the interests of the automotive sector within the Rheinmetall Group. From the start of 2014 and in both these positions he is succeeding Dr. Gerd Kleinert who after 13 years of successful activities in the Rheinmetall Group is stepping down from his CEO position and enetering retirement.

Rheinmetall Wins Breakthrough Malaysian Navy Order

Germany's Rheinmetall Group to supply 12 fire control radars & 6 electro-optical systems for six new patrol boats. Together with spare parts and training, the order also includes a transfer of know-how to Malaysia, which will enable local industry to take an active part in the project. Delivery of the systems will commence in 2015 and continue through to 2020. The Malaysian Navy’s new “Second Generation Patrol Vessels Littoral Combat Ships” (SGPV LCS), play a significant role in safeguarding regional sea lanes, where piracy poses a major threat to commercial shipping. Fire control technology from Rheinmetall will form a crucial element in the OPV’s shipboard technology, controlling the vessel’s primary and secondary armament.

STN ATLAS Marine Electronics Sold

As of November 1, 2003, equity investor EquiVest, represented by Munich-based CBR Management GmbH, has acquired from EMG EuroMarine Electronics, a Hamburg-based Rheinmetall Group company, the business operations of STN ATLAS Marine Electronics GmbH, Hamburg. The parties to the deal have agreed not to disclose any details on the price paid. The takeover by EquiVest is part of an MBO enacted by STN ATLAS Marine Electronics' Management Board. The new company will operate under the name of SAM Electronics GmbH. A leading systems supplier in the market for electrical and electronic ship and offshore equipment, STN ATLAS Marine Electronics' some 1,000-strong workforce generated sales of EUR 244 million in fiscal 2002.

Radio Holland Group Becomes Independent

Radio Holland (Rotterdam) announced that the MBO of the SRH Marine Group has succeeded. Zenitel (Brussels) and the RheinMetall Group (Dusseldorf), both 50 percent shareholders in EMG EuroMarine Electronics GmbH (Hamburg), agreed to separate from SRH Marine and the final agreement to this effect was signed. The operation took place through an MBO by the management of SRH, financed by ABN AMRO Capital (The Netherlands). Consequently, SRH Marine has now become independent and will take the new name, 'Radio Holland Group' with headquarters in Rotterdam. The closing of the deal is subject to final approval of antitrust committees in the Netherlands, Belgium and USA.
