Marsol Signs Two-Year OOCEP Contract

OOCEP Ships First Crude Oil from MGP Terminal

Oman Oil Company Exploration & Production LLC (OOCEP) shipped its first crude oil cargo from the Musandam gas plant (MGP) with the support of UAE-based Marsol International. OOCEP, a subsidiary of Oman Oil Company S.A.O.C exported 300,000 barrels of crude oil as part of the operation, which were fully processed at the MGP on May 4 in Oman. Oman Shipping Names Two New Tankers

Oman Shipping Company (OSC) has performed the naming ceremony for two new product and chemical tankers – the Muscat Silver and Rustaq Silver. The ceremony took place at the Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in Ulsan, South Korea. OSC will now take delivery of the Muscat Silver as part of a deal which will see 10 MR tankers delivered to it over the next year. All the vessels will be chartered to Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Ltd for its Project Silver, which consists of 50 new-builds. They will each operate worldwide with 20-strong crews - including a number of Omani officers. The Muscat Silver and Rustaq Silver are both 183 metres in length and 32.2 metres wide, with a depth of 19.1 metres.

Delivery of a New VLCC to Oman Shipping

Oman Shipping Company S.A.O.C. accepted delivery of a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC), SAMAIL, from Universal Shipbuilding Corporation, in Kawasaki city inJapan, becoming the 29th vessel to be operated by the company. The 300,000-dwt Panamanian flagged vessel SAMAIL measures 330 x 60 m with a draft of around 22 m. She will be the first VLCC to be technically managed "in house" by OSC’s subsidiary by Oman Ship Management Company S.A.O.C. in Muscat. New Joint Venture Tanker Company Sets Sail

Eye Gas Ships Next? Gulf Energy Maritime PJSC, or GEM, is a new $430 million joint venture shipping company, launched last month. Headquartered in Dubai, GEM is owned by Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) (35%); Abu Dhabi-based International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) (30%); Oman Oil Company (30%); and Thales (5%). The company is intent on capitalizing on the worldwide ban on single hull tankers, and will start with two Double Hull Panamax ships, with four more Panamax newbuilds under construction at Hyundai Heavy Industries for delivery by 2005. Initially, the company will only transport clean petroleum products and easy chemicals, including naphtha, kerosene, MTBE, methanol, jet fuel, MOGAS, and other hydrocarbons.
