Shipowner and operator, Swire Pacific Offshore Operations (Pte) Ltd (SPO) celebrated the naming of two new vessels, Pacific Centurion, an Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessel, and Pacific Goldfinch, a Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) at the dual vessel naming ceremony held on Tuesday, 24 March 2015 at Loyang Offshore Supply Base.

The naming ceremony was graced by Lady Sponsor, Mrs Joy Slosar, wife of Mr John Slosar, Chairman of Swire Pacific Limited and SPO and attended by SPO Board Members, employees and key project partners.

“The addition of Pacific Centurion and Pacific Goldfinch continues our strategy of developing a modern, fuel-efficient, well-specified and reliable fleet capable of supporting the exacting requirements of the offshore industry around the world. We are very confident that both vessels will consistently provide our clients with the safe and high quality service that they have come to expect from Swire Pacific Offshore,” says Managing Director of SPO, Mr Neil Glenn.

Pacific Centurion, an AHTS vessel, is the second vessel launched in the C-Class series, the first being Pacific Champion.  The C-Class vessel boasts a 400-tonne line pull Brattvagg winch with triple drums, ideal for mooring semi submersibles or FPSOs in over 1,000 metres of water, and the secondary spooling winch has a total of 8 km of 76 mm wire storage capacity.

Enhanced with Fi-Fi II (Fire-fighting), DP2 (Dynamic Positioning), and oil recovery capabilities, the powerful and high-specification vessel is suitable for a variety of offshore tasks in deep water and harsh environments and is fully capable to tow large vessels. Pacific Goldfinch, a Platform Supply Vessel (PSV), is the second of 10 G-Class PSV vessels that SPO has commissioned Japan Marine United Corporation (JMU) to build. JMU has previously completed the construction of a series of H-Class and L-Class PSVs. The G-Class vessels (4,000 DWT) are suited for a wide range of supply duties in the offshore industry. The tank arrangement allows for generous liquid capacities, with 969 m3 of cargo fuel. The efficient hull form and bulbous bow shape also ensure optimal fuel efficiency. Today, SPO operates a diverse fleet of 91 offshore support vessels, including platform supply vessels, anchor handling tug supply vessels, ice-breaking supply vessels, seismic survey vessels, wind-farm installation vessels, accommodation barges and multi-purpose offshore vessels.
