Furuno Makes Clean Sweep of NMEA Awards

Over the past 43 years, Furuno has received the honor of being the most recognized company in the marine electronics field by the National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA). This year, Furuno won four more NMEA awards at the prestigious 2014 NMEA Convention in Sanibel, FL, bringing Furuno’s NMEA Award all-time total to an amazing 212 wins. Cambridge Pixel unveils SPx Simulator to test and validate complex primary radar display applications. The sophisticated SPx Simulator software builds on Cambridge Pixel’s established SPx radar processing library to provide a flexible tool for system developers allowing multi-radar simulations or scenarios to be constructed including terrain effects, primary radar targets, secondary targets (AIS, IFF, ADS-B) and navigation data. Furuno Named NMEA "Manufacturer of the Year"

Furuno has once again received the lion’s share of awards at the prestigious 2011 National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) Convention in Sanibel, FL. This brings Furuno’s NMEA Award total to an incredible 201 awards since NMEA started presenting awards in 1971. A total of ten NMEA Awards were presented this year and Furuno received half of the awards issued. Consiliums Oil Spill Detection Radar

The recently launched Oil Spill Radar by Consilium Marine & Safety was tested together with the Norwegian Coastal Administration and the Norwegian Clean Seas Association For Operative Companies (NOFO). Furuno Manufacturer of the Year

Furuno, manufacturer of marine electronics, was honored with five awards at the 2009 National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) Convention in Sanibel, Fla. This year’s event, held Sept. 30 to Oct. 2, celebrated the 38th anniversary of the NMEA awards. This year, 10 NMEA Awards were presented and half were received by Furuno. For the fourth straight year, Furuno received the award for Manufacturer of the Year - Support. Furuno has secured this award every year the category has been included on the ballot. Furuno took top honors in the Best Radar Category for the thirty-fourth consecutive year with the NavNet 3D DRS Ultra Hi-Definition Radar Series. The NavNet 3D DRS Radars come in a variety of sizes, from the 2.2 kW, 19-inch Radome to the 25 kW, 6 ft. Open Array.

Success For Transas VTS In Taiwan

Transas Marine Pacific in cooperation with its Taiwanese agent, Seven Seas Electronic, has won an order for another Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) system in Taiwan. This order follows the first installation of a Navi-Traffic solution in the Port of Keelung in 1997. The tender was called, during the summer 2001, by Ho-Ping, which is a private port on the northeast coast of the country. Port construction works are nearing completion and the new port facilities will commence operating in early 2002. The VTS system in Ho-Ping will be the Navi-Harbour 3000 incorporating S- and X-band radars, a double-screen operator workstation, synchronous multi-channel audio recorder PC and a customized VTS database server.

Norcontrol IT Invests in Radar and Tracking Technology Research

Norcontrol IT became the majority shareholder of Norwegian radar technology company, Applied Radar Physics (ARP) in January 2004. The investment demonstrates to the market that Norcontrol IT is prepared to take the lead in the development of radar processing and tracking for VTS applications. ARP has been involved in radar technology for over 15 years, and is located in the Norwegian research center at Kjeller, where several high profile Norwegian research organizations are located. ARP’s standing in international radar research was further acknowledged at the ‘Radar 2003’ conference in Australia, where the company presented a paper on radar signal processing to the world’s foremost radar researchers.

Transas VTS Prevents Damage in Iceland

A new installation of Transas VTS system took place in the middle of August at Heimaey, the main populated island in Vestmanneyjar archipelago southwest of the Icelandic mainland. The history of this project goes back several years, when the Icelandic Telecommunication Company were interested in acquiring a system intended to supervise/protect national submarine communications. A huge submarine cable integrated with the transatlantic submarine communication line between Europe and Northern America connects Iceland with the rest of the Globe. This cable has been damaged several times because of incorrect fishing and anchoring operations, consequently causing very expensive repair works often running into millions of US dollars.
