NSK Acquires Brüel & Kjær Vibro
Brüel & Kjær Vibro (B&K Vibro), an independent supplier of condition monitoring solutions for rotating machinery, has been acquired by NSK, a global organization specializing in researching, designing and manufacturing motion and control solutions.NSK’s portfolio of products and technologies enhance automotive performance and industrial productivity, while reducing energy consumption. As the leading supplier of bearings in Japan and the third largest supplier in the world by market share, NSK employs approximately 30,000 people in more than 200 locations across 30 countries, alongside a vast network of joint ventures and partnerships.NSK has been developing condition monitoring systems (CMS) for internal and field use for decades.
Lawrence Livermore, VeriTainer Agreement
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) and VeriTainer Corporation have entered into a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA). The CRADA will be used to refine and enhance VeriTainer’s patented crane mounted scanning (CMS) technology. The CRADA will be in place for three-and-a-half years and require approximately $4m in funding. LLNL will work in cooperation with VeriTainer’s scientists and engineers to enhance both gamma and neutron detection sensitivity, while maintaining the capabilities of VeriTainer’s CMS. The system has been operated for the past four years in field tests run at three ports and in five different terminals.

Northrop Grumman and Thales to Market CMS
Northrop Grumman Corporation's Electronic Systems sector and Thales Nederland B.V. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to market and produce a Combat Management System (CMS) targeting the global small surface ship combatant market with near-term objectives being the U.S. Coast Guard and the Egyptian Navy foreign military sales program. Based on the Thales TACTICOS CMS family currently installed on board more than 70 naval ships in 11 countries, this MOU is a baseline agreement from which further definitive program specific agreements may emerge. Those further agreements will enable combatants to have immediate access to a cost effective CMS source.
