‘A Step Forward in Submarine Radar Technology’

Kelvin Hughes, a U.K. baesd designer and supplier of navigation and security surveillance systems, announced that it can now bring all the benefits of its SharpEye radar technology to submarines. Traditionally, submarines only use radar for navigation in and out of port because a high power RF transmission can compromise its ability to remain undetected. However, with its low power output – up to 300W as opposed to the 25kW of legacy submarine radar systems – SharpEye can reduce the probability of detection by ESM systems.

NG Logistics Support Contract for U.S. Navy

Northrop Grumman Corporation’s (NYSE: NOC) Sperry Marine business unit has been awarded a follow-on contract to provide performance-based logistics (PBL) support for navigation and steering systems installed on U.S. Navy surface ships and submarines. The contract was awarded by Naval Inventory Control Point, Mechanicsburg, Pa., exercising a three-year option on a previously awarded five-year PBL contract. The total value of the three-year contract is $42m. The initial year award is valued at $14.8m. Northrop Grumman - Sub Nav Contract

Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has been awarded a delivery order for the fifth year of a five-year contract to provide technical, logistics and material support for navigation systems installed on U.S. Navy ships and submarines. The delivery order, valued at $15.5m, was awarded to Northrop Grumman’s Sperry Marine business unit by Naval Inventory Control Point, Mechanicsburg, Pa., under a firm fixed-price performance-based logistics (PBL) contract. Under the contract, Sperry Marine will supply material management, configuration management and program management services for the AN/WSN-7 inertial navigation systems, and the AN/BPS-15 and AN/BPS-16 submarine radar systems.

Northrop Grumman Wins U.S. Navy Contract

Northrop Grumman Corporation was awarded a delivery order for the fourth year of a five-year contract to provide technical, logistics and material support for mission-critical systems installed on U.S. Navy surface ships and submarines. The fourth-year award, valued at $15.3 million, was granted to Northrop Grumman’s Sperry Marine business unit by Naval Inventory Control Point, Mechanicsburg, Pa. The five-year firm-fixed-price performance-based logistics (PBL) contract has a total value of $65.3 million. Under the contract, Sperry Marine is supplying material management, configuration management and program management services for the AN/WSN-7 ship/submarine inertial navigation systems and the AN/BPS-15 and AN/BPS-16 submarine radar systems.
