Port of Rotterdam Names Siemons Interim CEO

Boudewijn Siemons will become interim CEO of the Port of Rotterdam Authority effective July 15, 2023, taking the reins from Allard Castelein, who is stepping down as CEO this summer after nearly a decade in the position.Siemons, who currently serves as the port's COO, will combine both positions until a new CEO has been appointed.In addition, Vivienne de Leeuw will stay on as CFO. Her term of office has been extended by four years.Miriam Maes, chair of the Supervisory Board, said, "The process of finding a new CEO is still in progress.

World's Largest Iron Ore Export Hub Braces for Strongest Cyclone in a Decade

Australia's northwest region, home to the world's largest export hub for iron ore, could be hit by the most powerful tropical cyclone there in a decade as ports cleared ships and residents rushed to stock up on essential supplies. Cyclone Ilsa, located about 300 km (186 miles) off Australia's coast in the Indian Ocean, is expected to make landfall as early as Thursday night as a category four storm - one rung below strongest category five - packing winds of up to 275 km per hour, the Bureau of Meteorology said.

Four Crew Members on Hurtigruten Cruise Ship Hospitalized with COVID-19

Four crew members on a Norwegian cruise vessel were diagnosed with COVID-19 after it arrived at the Arctic port of Tromsoe early on Friday, said the University Hospital of North Norway where they are being treated.All 160 crew members on the Roald Amundsen have been quarantined on the ship, while the 177 passengers - all of whom have already disembarked - are being contacted by telephone and are being told to self-isolate, operator Hurtigruten said.“By the time we were notified, the passengers had left the ship,” Tromsoe municipality chief doctor Kathrine Kristoffersen told a news conference.

Miriam Maes New Chairman of Rotterdam Port

Miriam Maes has been appointed Chair of the Supervisory Board of the Port of Rotterdam Authority, in accordance with a decision made by the supervisory directors. Maes has served on the Supervisory Board since 1 January 2016. She will be succeeding Rutger van Slobbe, who joined the Supervisory Board in 2006 and has served as its Chair since May 2011. Van Slobbe’s third term will end on 1 January 2018. Newest Sub-chapter of WISTA Inaugurated in Kochi

The newst sub–chapter of Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association – was inaugurated in Kochi on the 29th of August 2014, making it the fifth chapter in the country. The sub-chapter was launched as a part of the 2nd Hotel, and was attended by eminent personalities from the Indian maritime industry. Mr Umesh Grover, CEO of Indian National Ship owner’s Association (INSA), and Mr Prakash Iyer, President of Cochin Steamer Agents Association (CSAA) inaugurated the launch as esteemed representatives of the industry and supporters of WISTA. Petrobras Board Approves More Exploration

The board of Brazil's state-run oil company, Petrobras, approved the exploration of new oil and gas fields in February, Planning Minister Miriam Belchior said on Friday, countering criticism by some board members that they were not previously informed of a 15 billion reais ($6.8 billion) oil-rights deal. Petroleo Brasileiro SA, as the company is formally known, on Tuesday was awarded the rights to explore four fields off Brazil's southeast coast believed to contain an estimated 5 billion to 9 billion barrels of oil. In return, it will pay the government 15 billion reais through 2018, with 2 billion reais going to the Treasury's coffers this year. The cash will help the government with its fiscal goals amid a weakening economy.

Zamakona Launches Tuna Freezer Vessel

Tuna freezer vessel Ljubica was launched at Zamakona Yards shipyard in Bilbao on June 16 for Ecuadoran shipowner Pesquera Miriam S.A. The ship has been designed and developed by the technical shipping office CINTRANAVAL - DEFCAR SL  and has a 1,999 m3 fish capacity in its tanks, 90 meters length and 18 knots speed. The Ljubica is designed for tuna fishing trough the fences system in fishing grounds located at the Pacific Ocean. Its delivery is planned for autumn 2014.

Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas Arrives in N.Y. Harbor

A clear, sunny Saturday afternoon of November 10, set the stage for the arrival of the first passenger ship into New York Harbor following the September 11 terrorist attacks. The vessel, Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas, sailed into New York for a two-day tribute cruise for the families of the fallen firemen and police officers who were victim to the devastation at the World Trade Center. Royal Caribbean also plans to donate $50,000 to the Twin Towers Relief Fund. The 142,000-ton Adventure of the Seas - sister ship to Voyager and Explorer of the Seas - was christened at Pier 88 and named by representatives of the New York Police Department and New York Fire Department.

Omega Navigation Enterprises, Inc. announced its financial and operational results for the second quarter and for the six-month period ended June 30, 2006. New Time Charters for ONAV

Omega Navigation Q3 2009 Results

For the quarter ended September 30, 2009, Omega Navigation reported total revenues of $14.3 million and Net Income of $1.9 million, or $0.12 per basic share, excluding losses on interest rate derivative instruments and incentive compensation grants expense. Including these items the Company reported Net Income of $ 0.1 million or $0.01 per basic share. Adjusted EBITDA for the third quarter of 2009 was $8.0 million. Please see below for a reconciliation of Adjusted EBITDA to Cash from Operating Activities. Operating Income included revenue of $0.8 million attributable to profit sharing. The company owned and operated an average of eight product carriers during the third quarter of 2009, the same number as in the third quarter of 2008.
