Congressional, Maritime Leaders Support Jones Act on the Hill
The House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation held a hearing Wednesday on “The State of the U.S. Flag Maritime Industry” during which congressional and maritime leaders stressed the importance of the Jones Act. RADM Mark H. Mr. Mr. The Committee and those testifying expressed bipartisan support for the Jones Act and enforcement of the law. “In order for us to maintain the way of life as we know it as a nation that is secure and is able to project power, be it Navy power or commercial power, the Jones Act is intrinsic to that. Congressman Weber likewise noted the need to maintain a strong domestic maritime industry and the importance of the Jones Act.
Ostermiller President, Nat’l CG Museum
The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education, welfare and morale of all Coast Guard members and their families, and a partner of the National Coast Guard Museum Association, announced the appointment of Jerry Ostermiller as the president of the National Coast Guard Museum. An accomplished museum administrator with over 25 years experience, Mr. Ostermiller will establish museum programming, develop internal infrastructure and lead capital campaign fund raising efforts for the construction of the country's newest national museum in New London, Connecticut. The United States Coast Guard is the only military service that does not currently have a national museum, which recounts the institution's history, service and missions. Mr.
Goshawk Chooses Moore Stephens
Moore Stephens has been commissioned by Lloyd's insurance and reinsurance underwriter Goshawk Insurance Holdings to design and maintain an online business management system. The project involves using state-of-the-art On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) and Data Warehousing techniques, in which Moore Stephens is a market leader, to improve the speed and quality of dissemination of management information. The first phase of the project, which involved identifying the objectives, establishing the internal infrastructure, and personnel training, has already been completed.
