Teamwork Smoothes Complex FPSO Repair

Work to repair five separate areas on board FPSO FPF-003, operated by Petrofac South East Asia Pte Ltd using SPS has been completed on-station in the Mubdala, Jasmine oil field. The repair work on this ABS classed vessel, built in 1976 and converted in 2005, was completed 15 days ahead of schedule with no disruption to day to day operations. SPS Deck Reinstatement for Canadian Fishing Vessel

IE has repaired the deck of a Ueushuk Fisheries Ltd owned fixed gear vessel, the Atlantic Optimist. The existing steelwork on board the vessel was badly corroded, access tight and a crop-and-replace repair was an unattractive option. When IE personnel arrived in Canada in mid-April, the 40msq of deck requiring steel reinstatement had already been grit blasted. Premuda Returns for SPS Overlay

Premuda, has returned for more SPS Overlay steel reinstatement, this time on board one of its Panamax bulk carriers, the 1984-built Four Earth. The 78,000 dwt vessel, classed by Lloyd’s Register, was repaired at Cosco Guangdong Shipyard in , formerly known as Cosco Guangzhou. The project on board the Four Earth involved tank top reinstatement and some repairs to lower areas of bulkhead stools covering a total area of 2,876m². The shipyard’s own personnel carried out the preparatory steelwork, involving the blasting and cleaning of existing tank top plate, and the welding of perimeter bars and new top plate to create cavities. Welch New CEO of Drydocks World

Dry Docks World announced that Denis Welch has been appointed CEO of Drydocks World South East Asia and will be based in their Singapore Office. Following the recent acquisition of two significant ship repair, shipbuilding and rig building companies, based in Singapore and Batam, Mr. Welch will oversee the expansion of Drydocks World operations in the region. The South East Asian group now encompasses the ex-Pan United Maritime ship repair and ship building facilities in Singapore and Indonesia, and also the Ex-Labroy ship building and rig building yards in Batam. Work is also underway on Batam Maritime Centre, a large repair and ship building facility, which will be established on a 175 hectare plot on the island of Batam.
