1st Ship Built to Lloyd’s Winterization Rule

The first vessel built to new global standards for ice-class vessels was unveiled on Nov. 10 when the Primorsk Shipping Corporation (PRISCO) named the MV Prisco Alexandra, a 51,000 deadweight-tonne product tanker built in Korea to rules developed by Lloyd’s Register. V.Ships Awarded Sakhalin Tankers Contract

Primorsk Shipping Corporation of Nakhodka (PRISCO) has awarded V.Ships a contract for the full technical management of three ice-class tankers. These vessels will be on long-term time charter to the Sakhalin-1 Consortium for operations in Phase 1 of the Sakhalin-1 Project, operated by Exxon Neftegas Limited, a subsidiary of ExxonMobil. Following a call for tenders from Exxon Neftegas Limited in November 2002, for a series of five new building ice-class shuttle tankers, V.Ships Consulting was hired by PRISCO to assist them in it’s bid to build these aframax size vessels. This assistance included development of the vessel specifications and assistance in reviewing the shipyard offers.

Primorsk to Build Gas Carrier

The Primorsk Shipping Corporation (PRISCO), as part of the MOL/K Line/PRISCO consortium, has started building a carrier vessel to transport liquefied natural gas (LNG) to participate in the Sakhalin-2 project, the Corporation says. The construction was begun in December 2006. Under the schedule, the gas carrier is to start operating in April 2008. The vessel is being built at a dockyard of Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding in Chiba (Japan). In November 2004, the PRISCO, in cooperation with Japanese companies Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd (MOL) and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd (K Line) won the tender for the transportation of LNG. HHI and Transas Hand New Vessel Over to PRISCO

The New tanker Pavel Chernish built by Hyundai Heavy Industries Ltd as part of the 1599 – 1603 project, was handed over to the Primorsk Shipping Corporation (PRISCO). Pavel Chernish is a vessel of ice class 1A according to the DNV classification and fully complies with the requirements of Exxon Neftegaz Ltd, subsidiary of Exxon Mobile. The tankers are designed for oil transportation within the Sakhalin – 1 project. The second tanker of the series will be handed to PRISCO in the near future. The Hyundai Heavy Industries Shipyard will build a total of five vessels during the project. The Transas Group equipped these tankers with the new integrated navigation system, Hyundai-Transas Intelligent Bridge System (HTiBS).

Primorsk Awards Ship Management 7 Vessels

Primorsk Shipping Corporation of Nakhodka, the Russian-based shipowner and operator has appointed V.Ships, Singapore as technical manager to seven crude/product and product/chemical carriers. V. Ships and Primorsk comment that the two parties have been in discussions for over a year about the possibility of Primorsk outsourcing the technical management and crewing of part of its globally-traded fleet. Alexander Kirilichev, president of Primorsk says that working closely with the world’s largest international ship manager will help establish a quality benchmark against which Primorsk will continue to work with all its fleet of 46 vessels.
