Finnlines Names New RoPax Finnsirius

Finnlines on Wednesday held a naming ceremony in Naantali for its first of two new freight-passenger Superstar vessels, Finnsirius.The new ro-pax vessel, part of Finnlines €500-million Green Investment Program, was built by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Weihai, China.“Finnsirius is Finnlines’ new eco-efficient flagship, designed specifically for the fast-paced freight transport route between Finland and Sweden. Golden Energy Offshore Looking to Power Vessels with Hydrogen

Norwegian offshore vessel operator Golden Energy Offshore has signed a letter of intent with Gen2 Energy to explore the use and availability of hydrogen-based fuel on vessels in its fleet."We hope that Golden Energy Offshore and Gen2 Energy together can find zero-emissions solutions that are attractive to our customers and capable of being implemented both on existing vessels in the fleet and newbuilds. The markets we are serving are increasingly demanding the most environmentally friendly solutions as using hydrogen, including methanol and ammonia.

Turkish Shipyard to Build Esvagt's 'Green' SOV Bound for Ørsted's Offshore Wind Farm

Danish offshore vessel owner Esvagt and its compatriot Ørsted earlier in April announced an investment in what they said would be the world’s first service operation vessel (SOV) that can operate on green fuels. On Friday, April 29, Turkish Cemre shipyard said it had won the contract to build the SOV.The design of the vessel has been developed by the Norwegian design company HAV Design in cooperation with ESVAGT, and the vessel will be the third turn-key project Cemre will build for Esvagt.

DEME to Buy Eidesvik's Viking Neptun Offshore Installation Vessel

Offshore installation company DEME has agreed to acquire Eidesvik's DP3 offshore installation vessel ‘Viking Neptun’. "Representing a substantial investment, this move highlights DEME’s commitment to its customers, and supports the continued growth of the offshore wind industry. This latest addition to its vessel fleet also confirms DEME’s mission to build future-proof, sustainable and environmentally friendly operations," DEME said.The Viking Neptun currently has a turntable capable of handling 4,500 tonnes of cables below deck.

Rolls-Royce's Power Systems Profitable Despite 17% Revenue Plunge

Rolls-Royce's Power Systems division has ended the 2020 financial year with an underlying operating profit of $247.3 million despite suffering a 17% drop in underlying revenue to $3.8 billion. This corresponds to an underlying operating margin of 6.5% (2019: 11.5%). Keppel Delivers Its First LNG Carrier Avenir Advantage

Keppel Offshore & Marine has delivered its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier, Avenir Advantage, to Avenir LNG. The vessel also functions as an LNG bunkering vessel (LBV), making it the first in South East Asia to do so, Keppel said.Avenir Advantage is the first of two such vessels that Keppel O&M is building for Avenir LNG. As COVID-19 continues to challenge many business plans and practices, the advent of remote inspection techniques is growing in popularity. What is reported to be the world’s first in-water remote ship surveys using a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) have been completed by DNV GL.In-water bottom surveys using ROVs have now been carried out on three separate Wilson ASA-managed vessels with the first having been completed on the Wilson Fedje in December 2019 by a surveyor from Høvik. The survey was performed earlier in July on another ASA Wilson-managed vessel in Bergen, Norway.

SHI Wins $314M Orders for 3 Shuttle Tankers

GEO Installs Ulstein Blue Box in 2 Vessels

World First: Keppel Delivers EU Stage-V Dredger

Keppel Singmarine’s Nantong, China, shipyard has delivered the world’s first dredger to meet European Union Stage V emissions requirements for inland waterways vessels.The wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M) said in a press release that has delivered the ultra low emission dredger on time, within budget and with a perfect safety record, strengthening its presence in the non-oil and gas segment.Built for Jan De Nul and named Afonso de Albuquerque, the ultra-low emission Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) is diesel-electrical powered and comes equipped with an efficient exhaust gas filter system. The resultant emission complies with the requirements of the EU Stage V standards, which set stricter limits on emissions.
