Roll Group Cuts Steel on Roll Barge One

Roll Group has cut steel for its latest addition, Roll Barge One, in Batam, Indonesia. Scheduled for delivery by ASL Yards in the third quarter of 2024, this marks Roll Group's entry into the barge market with its own assets."This is a new milestone in the history of our company," said Peter Rondhuis, CEO of Roll Group. Diana Takes Secondhand Ultramax, Charters Out Another

Diana Shipping on Monday announced it has taken delivery of the DSI Andromeda (formerly STH Tokyo), a 2016-built Ultramax dry bulk vessel. The 60,309 dwt vessel is one of nine modern Ultramax dry bulk vessels that the company entered into an agreement to purchase in August 2022.The company also announced that, through a separate wholly-owned subsidiary, it has entered into a time charter contract with ASL Bulk Marine Limited, for one of its Ultramax dry bulk vessels, the DSI Polaris. The gross charter rate is $13,100 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, for a period of minimum 18 months to maximum 20 months. The charter commenced on November 12, 2022.The DSI Polaris is a 60,404 dwt Ultramax dry bulk vessel built in 2018.

Diana Shipping Secures Three Time Charters

Dry bulk shipowner Diana Shipping Inc. on Monday announced it has entered into separate time charter contracts for three of its vessels.The company said it will charter its vessel Amphitrite to Cobelfret S.A. for $14,250 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, for a period until minimum December 1, 2023 up to maximum February 15, 2024. The charter is expected to commence on November 10, 2022. The Amphitrite is a 98,697 dwt Post-Panamax dry bulk vessel built in 2012.Diana will also charter its vessel Crystalia to Reachy Shipping (SGP) Pte. Ltd. for $12,500 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, for a period until minimum September 1, 2023 up to maximum October 15, 2023. The charter is expected to commence on November 8, 2022.

Canada's New Oil Spill Response Barges Launched

Two new oil spill response barges were recently completed at ASL Shipyard in Singapore for Western Canada Marine Response Corporation (WCMRC).The two 3,500 tonne barges, Sentinel 303 and Sentinel 304, will be delivered to WCMRC in October, with arrival in Canada by the end of 2022. The response barges will join WCMRC’s fleet of pollution response vessels stationed along the south coast of British Columbia.These new barges represent a significant enhancement to the pollution response capabilities already in place and will benefit the entire local maritime industry…

Diana Shipping Secures Charter for 75,700dwt Bulk Carrier

Dry bulk vessel company Diana Shipping has entered into a time charter contract with ASL Bulk Shipping HK Limited, for one of its Panamax dry bulk vessels, the m/v Selina. The gross charter rate is US$26,500 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, for a period until a minimum of June 15, 2022, up to a maximum of September 15, 2022. The charter for the 225 meters long vessel is expected to begin on September 1, 2021. The m/v Selina is currently chartered to ST Shipping and Transport Pte.

Svitzer Australia recently took delivery of a new RAstar 3000-W series ASD tug, Svitzer North, from ASL Shipyard in Singapore.The vessel's design was developed by Robert Allan Ltd. in close cooperation with Svitzer’s operations team, to meet the unique demands of the Port of Geraldton, Western Australia. Ferus Smit Launches Arklow Accord

Ireland-based coastal shipping line operator Arklow Shipping (ASL) has added Arklow Accord the bulk cargo vessel to its fleet.Arklow Accord was successfully launched at the Ferus Smit shipyard in Westerbroek, Netherlands last week.M.V. Arklow Accord is the second vessel in a series of 6 that will be delivered to our client from the city of Arklow, Ireland. The design is a bulk oriented general cargo ship that will be mainly employed in the shipment of wheat, corn and other bulk commodities in European waters.The design is a slightly modified version of the first series of 8600 dwt bulkers that Ferus Smit built under the name of Arklow B – series.The new design is adapted for iceclass 1A, with modified bow form and propulsion with a propeller nozzle added.

GPS, Ice Profiling Sonar Used in Sea Level Variation Study

Yanbu South Terminal Boost Export Capacity

US Navy Submarines Surface in the Arctic Circle

A pair of U.S. Navy submarines recently surfaced in the Arctic Circle as part of multinational maritime exercise north of Alaska. Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine USS Hartford (SSN 768) and Seawolf-class fast attack submarine, USS Connecticut (SSN 22) surfaced in the Arctic Circle March 10 during the multinational maritime Ice Exercise (ICEX) 2018. Fire Kills Five at ASL Marine's Batam Shipyard

The vessel owner-operator and shipbuilder  ASL Marine Holdings said that a fire occurred in its shipyard in Batam, Indonesia. ASL press release that initial investigations showed the incident occurred on board a tanker that was being repaired at one of its dry docks. The fire likely started inside and was confined to the pump room, the company added in its statement. Whilst this may restrict damage and deaths, nevertheless five people died and one person is injured, they were employees of our subcontractor. Initial investigations suggest that there was no explosion. "We are saddened by this incident and the loss of lives, and we extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims.

With the arrival of the Iron Kestrel and Iron Corella in Port Hedland, Western Australia, the first two of BHP Billiton Iron Ore's six boat order for Robert Allan Ltd.’s RAstar 85 Class escort tugs have now been delivered by ASL Shipyards Singapore. ASL Marine gets approval to delay redeeming $105m bonds

Singapore, 20 January 2017– ASL Marine Holdings Ltd. respectively. This means the maturity dates of Series 006 Notes and Series 007 Notes will each be extended for three years to March 2020 and October 2021 respectively. Engineered rope specialist Cortland Australia said it has secured a contract to supply Singapore’s ASL Shipyards with high performance Plasma 12x12 towlines for BHP Billiton Towage Services’s new fleet of six RAstar85 ASD escort tugs. Swiber-Linked Vessels Seized in Singapore

Three of of Swiber Holdings vessels had been seized in an arrest moved by a syndicate of banks, reports Business Times. All three vessels were arrested at ASL Shipyard, the litigant in the arrest is United Overseas Bank (UOB), acting as security agent for the syndicate of banks that had extended financing to the vessel owner in relation to a sale and leaseback deal. The recent filing for liquidation by Swiber Holdings, an oil and gas business listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange, sent jitters through the markets. Total claims received by struggling offshore engineering group Swiber Holdings stood at about US$288.8 million as at Dec 29, 2016, the group said in an update filed to the Singapore Exchange.

ASL Marine Secures New Contracts

Shipbuilder ASL Marine  has secured a total S$156 million worth of contracts from its shipbuilding, shiprepair & conversion, shipchartering and dredging engineering divisions. The contracts secured are mainly from repeat customers in the region as well as in the Middle East, the US and Europe, it said, adding that there are potential additional orders from a certain customer upon successful delivery of current projects. ASL Shipyard Secures S$140mln Build Contracts

ASL Shipyard Pte Ltd. a wholly-owned subsidiary of ASL Marine Holdings Ltd., has secured new shipbuilding contracts worth approximately S$140 million for the construction of a series of tugs and barges, the company’s board of directors announced Thursday. According to the shipbuilder, all of the vessels will be specially designed and built for overseas customers in the mining and marine infrastructure industries. The tugs and barges will be built at the group’s shipyards in Singapore and Indonesia. ASL Marine said none of its directors or controlling shareholders has any direct or indirect interest in the transactions other than through their shareholdings in the company.

FLNG deal-making has been sporadic since Woodside Petroleum at the end of 2013 delayed a final investment decision for the giant Browse FLNG project off Northwest Australia. The previous year had seen go-aheads for most of the floating liquefied natural gas projects (FLNG) underway today, including Shell’s Prelude FLNG — Woodside’s choice, it seems, of a liquefaction solution for fields 200 kilometers offshore. Yet Prelude, “the first project out”, might not be first to produce.

10 Optimarin BWT system for Asian Shipowner

Ballast water treatment (BWT) specialist Optimarin has secured a fleet agreement for the installation of 10 of its flexible, reliable and environmentally friendly systems with an unnamed Asian shipowner. The contract, covering a group of 6,700 TEU container vessels, was secured thanks to the firm’s retrofit expertise and market proven technology. The first of the Optimarin Ballast System (OBS) units has already been installed, with two further systems following at the beginning of next year, and two more in spring 2016. Goltens Green Technology, which entered into an agreement with Optimarin last year as a ‘preferred retrofit partner’, will manage all design and supervision from its Singapore office.
