China Launches Unmanned Ship Design Center

China has built its first research and development test base for autonomous ships in the southern coastal city of Zhuhai next to Macao, state-owned newspaper Economic Daily reported.The test base named Xiangshan Marine Scientific & Technological Port is located in Zhuhai, Guangdong province. Caterpillar Powers Indian Coast Guard Patrol Boats

Caterpillar Marine Power Systems was recently selected to supply the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) with 72x Cat 3516C marine propulsion engines (2525 bkW @ 1800 RPM, ‘D’ Rating) and 72x C4.4 auxiliary generator sets (86 eKW @ 1500 RPM) to power 36 Interceptor Boats, which will be built by Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T), Mumbai. Projemar Contracts with Sener

The reference ship and offshore design consultancy in Brazil, Projemar, has entered a license contract with Sener for the use of FORAN. After the implementation of FORAN in its headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, Projemar is conducting an on the job learning process that includes the actual detail design a mineral carrier for a Brazilian shipyard, covering the complete structure and outfitting 3D model and the manufacturing outputs. Projemar joins the Brazilian FORAN users base that includes, among others, the Brazilian Navy Shipyard (AMRJ) and Ship Design Center (CPN) in Rio de Janeiro, the STX shipyard in Niteroi, the Itajaí shipyard and the School of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers in the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
