Kongsberg Design & Equipment for India-built Offshore Wind Vessels

Norway's Kongsberg Maritime has secured a NOK 300 million ($30,2 million) contract with Pelagic Wind Services to supply advanced vessel design and equipment for two new CSOVs to be built at Cochin Shipyard in India.The CSOVs will be built to Kongsberg Maritime’s UT 5519 HL design, which, according to Kongsberg, has been upgraded to provide the highest level of operability and safety, while lowering fuel consumption and maintaining excellent seakeeping properties. "The new vessels will be able to operate safely and efficiently in any situation with the lowest possible environmental footprint.

FSG Begins Building SeaRoad’s New Ship

German shipbuilder Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) has cut first steel for a new new roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) freight vessel being constructed for Australian shipping company SeaRoad.A May 20 steel cutting event involved the ceremonial ‘pushing of the button’ to start the laser cutting machine with SeaRoad Technical Marine Manager, Tony Johnson, and FSG CEO Philipp Maracke doing the honors. Johnson is currently on the ground in Germany overseeing the newbuild project.The 210-meter-long newbuild was ordered in 2021 at a cost of more than €100 million.

Wärtsilä's Engines and Electrical Solutions for Australian RoRo Newbuild

Finland-based marine engine maker Wärtsilä said Tuesday it would deliver main and auxiliary engines, fuel storage tanks, gas handling equipment and electrical systems for a new RoRo being built for Australian operator SeaRoad Shipping.The 210 meter-long vessel is being built at the Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) shipyard in Germany. The RoRo vessel will operate primarily on LNG fuel.The vessel will be powered by two Wärtsilä 46DF dual-fuel main engines and three Wärtsilä 20DF dual-fuel auxiliary engines.

Raytheon Anschütz INS for Spliethoff’s R-type Vessels

The Dutch shipping company Spliethoff selected Raytheon Anschütz to engineer and deliver Synapsis NX integrated navigation systems (INS) for six new ice-classed multipurpose vessels scheduled to be delivered in 2019. The University College of Southeast Norway (USN) has contracted Kongsberg Digital to deliver a major upgrade of its maritime simulator park. Imtech Marine to Power Turkish Navy Vessels

Imtech Marine announces that Elkon (Istanbul), member of Imtech Marine , signed a contract for the design and supply of the complete electrical systems to power three Turkish Navy Auxiliary vessels. The vessels, consisting of  one Submarine Rescue Mother Ship (MoShip) and two Rescue and Towing Ships (RATships) will be built by Istanbul Shipyard in Tuzla Turkey and are scheduled to be delivered to the Turkish Navy by mid of 2015. Elkon is contracted by Istanbul Shipyard  to design, supply and commission the complete package of electrical systems.

CAE's Marine Division Wins Contracts Worth $12.5M

CAE's marine division has signed contracts with a number of commercial marine customers around the world for a total value of more than $12.5M. In the largest of the contracts, CAE has been selected by Croatia's Brodosplit Shipyard to supply both CAE Damatic(TM) automation systems as well as an integrated navigation system with voyage data recorders and bridge consoles for six P-MAX tankers contracted by STENA. CAE Damatic automation systems enable a single crewman to have full control of all shipboard machinery and equipment. Transas Installs Simulator Complex in Montenegro

In September 2002, Transas supplied its integrated simulator complex to Azalea Maritime Training Centre in Montenegro, Yugoslavia. According to the contract, the procurement included a Transas Navi-Trainer Professional 3000 navigational bridge simulator with 3 visualisation channels, real bridge consoles and steering equipment. Further, a PC-based networked ERS 2000 engine room simulator with a Ship’s Diesel Propulsion Plant, Ship’s Electric Power Plant and an Auxiliary Systems and Machinery simulator; and liquid cargo handling simulator for onboard operations with Liquefied Natural Gas Cargo are included. The installation work carried out by Transas engineers was followed, as always, by a 3-day training course organized at the premises of the Azalea training center.

Kongsberg Launches New Simulation Software

Sperry Marine to Supply for Container Ships

Northrop Grumman Corporation’s Sperry Marine business unit has won orders from the China Shipbuilding Corporation shipyard in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, to supply integrated bridge systems (IBS) for 12 new container ships. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. “The state-of-the-art bridge electronics suite is designed to enhance navigation safety by integrating all of the ships’ navigation and steering control systems,” said John DeMaso, president of Sperry Marine. The new ships, which are being built for Chilean ship owner Compañia Sudamericana de Vapores (CSAV) and German ship owner, Reederei Peter Doehle, will be fitted with a complete IBS featuring Sperry Marine’s proprietary Voyage Management System software.

Imtech Completes Three Offshore Ships

Imtech Marine, specialized in system integration, successfully completed three innovative new-build vessel projects in Singapore; Seven Borealis for Subsea 7, Rockpiper for a subsidiary of Royal Boskalis Westminster NV and Flintstone for Tideway, part of the DEME Group. The ships will all operate in the oil and gas market. Imtech Marine has combined specific capabilities of its offices in Rotterdam, Shanghai and Singapore. The supply package for two of the three ships includes advanced dynamic positioning (DP), diesel electric propulsion, vessel management (VMS), automation, navigation and communication. The design and engineering was done in Rotterdam, production in Shanghai and installation & commissioning by the Imtech Marine team in Singapore.

Kongsberg and Zhenjiang Form New JV

Kongsberg Maritime has formed a new joint venture with the Chinese company Zhenjiang Marine Electrical Appliances. The new company, Kongsberg Maritime China Zhenjiang Ltd., is focused on the delivery of electrical control & distribution units to the marine industry.Zhenjiang Marine Electrical Appliances specializes in electrical equipment for commercial and naval ships, such as low-voltage switchboards, bridge consoles, multiform control cabinets, dry transformers and battery charger/UPS power devices. In addition, the company supplies navigation-aid apparatus such as navigation light/signal light controller, whistle controller, emergency telegraph and combined audio/light alarm systems.

Quatergas Newbuilds Employ Kongsberg K-Bridge Consoles

Kongsberg Maritime has delivered the first K-Bridge consoles in its contract to supply Bridge, Cargo, Integrated Automation Systems and Integrated Navigation Systems to four vessels in production at Samsung and Hyundai for the OSG/QGII expansion project. The K-Bridge navigation system consists of a complete range of consoles, including K-rudder angle system and steering control systems. Other equipment within the integrated navigation system includes Speed log, Echo Sounder, GMDSS and chart system, in addition to standalone X-band Radar. Kongsberg Maritime Korea completed the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of the K-Bridge system on 11th May 2006.

Turkish Navy Contract for Imtech

The order is for the construction of a submarine rescue mother Ship (MoShip) and two rescue and towing Ships (RATships). All ships will be built by Istanbul Shipyard in Tuzla in Turkey and are scheduled to be delivered to the Turkish Navy by mid of 2015. Imtech's Turkish marine business unit Elkon was selected by Istanbul Shipyard to design, supply and commission the complete package of electrical systems. The supply range involves major components of the power generation, power distribution and propulsion systems, as well as an integrated vessel management system including power management and machinery monitoring & control. Electrical engineering and onboard installations, integrated logistic support and ship's engineering room and bridge consoles are also part of the supply scope.
