Johor Port Berhad has signed an agreement with Petronas LNG Ltd. to provide marine services for vessels that receive gassing up and cooling down (GUCD) services at PLL’s Regasification Terminal Pengerang.According to a press release from integrated multi-purpose port facility located at the southern tip of Peninsular Malaysia, the signing of the Marine Services Agreement by Johor Port Bhd and PPL enables the provisioning of marine services and attractive tariff for vessels that receive Gassing Up and Cooling Down (GUCD) services at PLL’s Regasification Terminal Pengerang (RGTP).The GUCD is a specialised service of bringing the storage tanks on liquefied natural gas carrier (LNG) vessels to a natural environment and cooling it down to cryogenic temperature (minus 160 degrees Celcius).

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has hosted the 44th ASEAN Ports Association (APA) Meeting on 27 and 28 November 2018. The annual meeting was officially opened by the Chairman of MPA, Niam Chiang Meng, at the Conrad Centennial Hotel.About 100 key port executives and decision-makers from the nine member nations of the APA  attended the event, which serves as a platform for ASEAN ports to cooperate in areas such as port development, operations and management.The nine member nations of the APA are Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam.In his welcome address…

An International Maritime Organization (IMO) training in Malaysia has seen port State control officers practice inspecting air pollution and energy efficiency rules aboard a container ship in Johor Port. The participants from across Malaysia have been taking part in the three-day workshop (13-15 February) focusing on how to effectively enforce IMO’s MARPOL Annex VI regulations. The interactive workshop included class-based lectures and exercises, as well as practical training on board, in which relevant certificates and documentation, fuel tank arrangement and bunker fuel samples were inspected. It is the first time that onboard training has taken place under the GloMEEP project, which supports countries in addressing air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from ships.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) continues to coordinate the containment and clean-up efforts of the oil spillage in Singapore’s waters following the collision of container vessels Wan Hai 301 and APL Denver. As of 5 January 2016, a total of 17 vessels and 222 personnel have been deployed. Progress of the clean-up is being made along the western coastlines of Pulau Ubin (OBS Jetty) and Nenas Channel. Some patches of oil were spotted off CAFHI Jetty and also along the shorelines of Pasir Ris Beach, Changi Point Ferry Terminal, Changi Sailing Club and Changi Beach in the early hours of the morning. Contractors were deployed to clean up the affected shorelines.

The container carriers APL Denver and Wan Hai 301 collided off Pasir Gudang Port in Johor, Malaysia, resulting in an oil spill. Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said it was notified by the Johor Port Authority (JPA) of a collision between Singapore-registered container vessel Wan Hai 301 and Gibraltar-registered container vessel APL Denver. In a statement, MPA said the master of APL Denver reported that one of the vessel's bunker tanks sustained damage, causing a spillage of about 300 tonnes of oil. JPA has deployed four anti-pollution craft on site and an oil boom around APL DENVER to contain the oil spill. In Singapore, some oil patches were spotted and the spillage has been contained off the western side of Pulau Ubin.

An International Maritime Organization (IMO) workshop is raising awareness of the organization’s regulatory regime dealing with improving energy efficiency and the control of GHG emissions from ships. Participants from Malaysian governmental departments, academia and other related bodies are in attendance at the three-day “MARPOL Annex VI and Technology Transfer” workshop, taking place in Johor, Malaysia (16-18 May). The event is organized under IMO’s GloMEEP project, which is supporting uptake and implementation of energy efficiency measures for shipping in developing countries. Malaysia is one of the 10 GloMEEP lead pilot countries.

Orkim Harmony located with crew, cargo safe; Malaysian navy negotiating with pirates onboard. A Malaysian naval vessel has made contact with the pirates onboard hijacked tanker Orkim Harmony and is trying to persuade them to surrender, a maritime official said on Thursday. The tanker as of noon (0400 GMT) was in Vietnamese waters headed south with the Malaysian navy vessel KD Terengganu and a maritime ship in pursuit. Both the crew and the cargo onboard the tanker are safe, and the navy is negotiating with the robbers through the captain of the Orkim Harmony, said Vice Admiral Ahmad Puzi, deputy director general of the operations unit of the Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), in a press briefing.

As agreements was signed between Singapore and Malaysia to boost the number of ferry trips between Changi Ferry Terminal, Singapore and Tanjung Belungkor in south-eastern Johor, Malaysia. Radio Holland Group has opened a new office in Malaysia on February 26. It is the 49th branch office in the worldwide organization of the Radio Holland Group. The official opening of the Malaysian office took place at the Tanjung Puteri Golf Resort, Pasir Gudang, Johor. Present as a guest of honor was Dato’ Mohd Taufik Abdullah, Chairman of the Port of Tanjung Pelepas and Executive Chairman of Johor Port. He performed the official opening together with Mr. Group. Approximately 100 guests from Malaysia and Singapore attended the event. Radio Holland Malaysia is Radio Holland’s response to the increasing marine activities in Malaysia and specifically in the Port of Tanjung Pelepas, which had another record-breaking year in 2003 with an annual throughput of almost 3.5 million TEU.
