BV Sees Surge in Decommissioning Support Orders. Beats Its Full Year Target

TSmarine Launches Salt Subsea Support Operations

The TSmarine Australia Group has appointed 30-year oil and gas industry veteran Michael Earlam to lead the group’s new Aberdeen-based subsidiary SALT Subsea Ltd. SALT Subsea, a wholly owned subsidiary of the TSmarine Australia Group, will initially support the long term AX-S contract with Expro Ltd. TSmarine Australia chief executive officer John Edwards said Michael Earlam brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the North Sea operation. “Michael is the logical choice to establish and develop the SALT Subsea business,” Edwards said.

ClassNK and Tribon Offer Different Options

The Japanese classification society ClassNK and Tribon Solutions offer time savings in the early phases of ship design through a new software interface. As part of a program to facilitate cooperation between ship designers and classification societies through digital data transfer, the Japanese classification society ClassNK and software provider Tribon Solutions have developed a direct interface between the Tribon Shipbuilding system and ClassNK PrimeShip. This new capability offers efficient data transfer and cost reductions in the early ship design phases. As a result of this integrated process, ship designers will be able to examine multiple design alternatives in a shorter time allowing more detailed analysis of structural strength and steel weight.

Raytheon Awarded $23m for Navy Mine Hunting Sonar

The Naval Sea Systems Command has awarded Raytheon Company a $23.2m contract to provide AN/AQS-20A mine hunting sonar engineering services and support. This award exercises an option on an existing 2005 contract, bringing the total contract value to $139m. AN/AQS-20A, a key component of the Organic Mine Countermeasures family of systems, has been integrated into multiple airborne mine countermeasures helicopters. Most notably, it is the primary mine hunting system integrated into the U.S. Navy's MH-60S. It provides critical capabilities in support of mine-clearing operations in both deep ocean and littoral waters by enabling the detection, classification and localization of bottom, close-tethered and volume mines.

Raytheon Awarded Two Contracts

Raytheon Company has been awarded two sole source contracts by the U.S. Navy totaling $15.7 million for AEGIS equipment support. A $10.2 million performance based logistics contract renews Raytheon Integrated Defense System's (IDS) direct responsibility for administering AEGIS technical support for spares and repairs requirements of U.S. Navy and Foreign Military Sales customers. A $5.5 million contract calls for upgrading transmitter equipment in the AEGIS Weapon System. The AEGIS program is served by Raytheon's IDS Surveillance & Sensor Systems business area. Raytheon recently commemorated a 25-year milestone of continuous AEGIS equipment production.
