Mammoet SPMTs Cantilevered

Dutch company specialized in engineered heavy lifting and transport Mammoet said that its crews have successfully set 108 total shoulder spans on the southbound lanes of the New Orleans Causeway in Louisiana by means of the self-propelled module transporter (SPMT) used as a cantilever set atop a barge.The shoulders are located between the crossovers, giving motorists and first responders a safe place to pull over when there are breakdowns or accidents. Ferrybridge Demolished for Beatrice OWF

Bridges Arrive at Port of Rotterdam

The first parts of a steel arch bridge arrived at the Rozenburg lock on pontoons for Theemswegtracé yesterday (Monday, July 22).The other parts of this bridge will arrive later in this month, a press note from Port of Rotterdam said. At the location next to the lock, these bridge sections will be built into an arched bridge, with a single span of 172.8 m. The total length of the bridge is 176.8 m. The bridge is intended for the Theemswegtracé. There will be a total of two arched bridges in this section.In August, parts of the second steel arched bridge will be delivered to the construction site near the Thomassentunnel. This bridge will also be built there.

Peel Ports Expands London Medway

Peel Ports, Britain's second largest group of ports, has expanded its proposition at London Medway with a GBP5.5million investment to replace the Royal Bridge Pontoon.The upgrade work includes a new 12m wide, 45m across ramp, which will allow larger stern ramp RoRo vessels to berth at the port and increase the overall capacity for throughput.It comes as new opportunities in the unaccompanied freight and automotive sectors brings new customers to the port, with the facilities able to support a higher volume of larger vessels.The forestry industry, which along with automotive, forms the core business of London Medway, has also brought opportunities for growth…

Wagenborg Closes Geodis Project

With the m.v. Marietje Hester discharged bridge sections in Frederiksværk, Denmark, Royal Royal Wagenborg shipping in total 492 concrete segments in 44 voyages from Szczecin, Poland to Denmark and successfully closes the Geodis project.Early 2018 the project started after the Danish authorities have initiated the Fjord Link project to build a new bridge over the Roskilde fjord. The 8.2 km four-lane link will be located just south of Frederikssund.The bridge is planned to open in 2019, so the final sections of the bridge need to be in Denmark by early 2019. SAL Heavy Lift Bridges Beitstadsundbrua

The heavy lift sea transport provider SAL Heavy Lift has delivered 12 bridge sections for the Beitstadsundbrua bridge from China to Norway.The final bridge is part of the largest road construction project in northern Trøndelag, will measure 580 m in length and will connect the municipalities of Steinkjer and Malm, crossing the Beitstadfjorden.The bridge will make travelling between northern parts of Trøndelag county considerably safer, as well as reduce travelling time significantly.In a mountainous country like Norway, which is cut apart by deep fjords, bridge building is a virtue of necessity. Today there are over 18.000 bridges, summing up to 446 km and each with an average length of 250 m, spread across Norway.

Chinese Consortium Bags USD 1.4bln Panama Bridge Project

The government of Panama gave a US$1.4 billion contract to build a bridge over the Panama Canal to Panama Cuarto Puente, a Chinese consortium.Panama Cuarto Puente consortium or so-called Panama Fourth Bridge Consortium,  composed of China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) and its unit China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC), will design and build a bridge over the Panama Canal.According to a report in Reuters, the 6.5-km (4-mile) bridge will have six car lanes and a two-way metro line.
