Restrictions for Vessels Calling at Cotonou

Port Authorities have informed that the completion of heavy works for the enlargement of breakwaters at the port of Cotonou is scheduled for end of July. From 1 August, the port will be able to accommodate larger vessels, as follows:

SOUTH CONTAINERS TERMINAL (PIERS 9 to 10)


- Permissible LOA: Less of equal to 260 metres

- Permissible maximum draft: 12 metres

- Bow thruster: Minimum power required 1,300 KW

- Overview: Vessels complying with mentioned particulars berthing or sailing subjected to favorable weather conditions. Minimum 1 bow thruster in good working condition required.

NORTH CONTAINERS TERMINAL (PIERS 5 to 8)

- Permissible LOA: Less of equal to 260 metres

- Permissible maximum draft: 10.50 metres

- Bow thruster: Minimum power required 1,300 KW

- Overview: Vessels complying with mentioned particulars berthing or sailing subjected to favorable weather conditions. Minimum 1 bow thruster in good working condition required.

GENERAL CARGOES PIER (JETTIES 3 to 4)


- Permissible LOA: Less of equal to 190 metres

- Permissible maximum draft: 10 metres

- Overview: Berthing and sailing always subjected to good weather conditions.

GENERAL CARGOES PIER (JETTIES 1 to 2)


- Permissible LOA: Less of equal to 190 metres

- Permissible maximum draft: 9.50 metres

- Overview: Berthing and sailing always subjected to good weather conditions.

CONTAINERS & GENERAL CARGOES TERMINAL (PIERS 3 to 8) FOR RO-RO VESSELS

- Permissible LOA: Less of equal to 240 metres

- Permissible maximum draft: 10 metres

- Bow thruster: Minimum power required 1,300 KW

- Overview: Vessels complying with mentioned particulars berthing or sailing subjected to favorable weather conditions. Minimum 1 bow thruster in good working condition required.

ORYX OIL & GAS PIER

- Permissible LOA: Less of equal to 190 metres

- Permissible maximum draft: 9.50 metres

- Overview: Berthing and sailing always subjected to good weather conditions.

Night maneouvres for all vessels having LOA beyond 200 meters, including Ro-Ro vessels, tankers and LPG carriers will be required only at the full completion of the heavy works. The East jetty (SONACOP) pier for distillates products is not concerned as work still undergoing on and it does accommodate vessels with LOA greater than 115 meters.
