Contract Finalized for Two New Ferries for the Little Minch

Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL) confirmed the signing of the Bank Refund Guarantee (BRG) for two new vessels for the Little Minch routes between Uig, Lochmaddy and Tarbert (Harris).Work to build the ferries will now begin at Cemre Marin Endustri A.S shipyard in Turkey, with an expected delivery date for both in June and October 2025 respectively.They will be built to the same specification as the vessels for Islay, which are already under construction at Cemre. Cemre Selected as Preferred Bidder to Build Two Ferries for Little Minch

The preferred bidder has been named for a contract to build two new ferries to support the communities at Uig, Lochmaddy and Tarbert (Harris).Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL) said it intends to award the contract to the Cemre Marin Endustri A.S shipyard in Turkey, following a 10 day standstill period.In October 2022, The Scottish Government prioritised additional funding to enable CMAL to accelerate plans for replacement vessels. The two new vessels will be built to the same specification as the existing ferries under construction at Cemre for Islay.

CMA CGM Increases Port Calls and TEU Capacity

French container line CMA CGM has announced imminent changes to its PCRF line service which links Northern Europe with the French West Indies, by adding two new calls at Zeebrugge and Rotterdam and increasing freight capacity on the route. The company says this will mean customers will benefit from the enhanced import and export cargo opportunities. During the first quarter of 2016, PCRF line’s capacity which links the French West Indies to Europe will be increased by replacing current 2,200 TEU capacity vessels by 2,800 TEU capacity vessels. This move supports regional growth of both the French Indies market, currently around 3%, and promotes intra-Caribbean trade developments.

ATPI, Teekay Offshore Ink Travel Management Deal

ATPI Griffinstone, part of the ATPI Group, has secured a travel management agreement with Teekay Offshore. Teekay Offshore has decided to consolidate all of its travel management through ATPI Griffinstone a global travel management company with specialist dedicated services for energy, offshore and shipping industries. Rickmers-Linie Creates Japan Subsidiary

Rickmers-Linie GmbH & Cie KG, the German based global breakbulk, heavy lift and project cargo specialist, will establish its own subsidiary company, RICKMERS (JAPAN) Incorporated in Tokyo effective June 1, 2006. This step reflects the significance of the Japanese market as well as Rickmers-Linie’s long-term commitment and objectives of providing dedicated services to its Japanese customers and market place. Rickmers-Linie and its agency partner since 2003, Japan Heavy Lift Inc, have mutually agreed to terminate the existing agency agreement effective May 31, 2006. All business activities handled by Japan Heavy Lift Inc will be transferred to RICKMERS (JAPAN) Inc.
