RINA Acquires Logimatic Solutions

RINA announced it has acquired the entire share capital of Denmark-based software company Logimatic Solutions, in line with Italian classification society’s plan to boost its digital solutions knowledge and offering.The company, with a turnover of about 6 million euros, will be fully integrated within the RINA Group, and its nearly 50 employees will continue in the current structure from its offices in Denmark, Singapore and Chile.For RINA, the move will add the SERTICA fleet management solution to the RINA portfolio of maritime offerings…

RINA Acquires Logimatic Solutions

RINA Closes Edif Group Acquisition

RINA S.p.A, the holding company of the multinational testing, inspection, certification and consulting engineering group based in Genoa, Italy, has announced that it has closed its acquisition of the entire share capital of Edif Group Limited for £118.5 million (around $156 million). High levels of synergy can be seen between Edif and RINA’s services, complementing and expanding RINA’s existing industry services and geographic network. This strategic acquisition also allows RINA to branch into new areas within its industries and geographies, providing an enhanced service offering to new and existing clients. This growth will provide extensive global coverage and strengthen RINA’s presence in key sectors, including defence, energy, transport, built environment and infrastructure.

RINA Awards Carnival Maritime with Environmental, Safety

RINA recently awarded Carnival Maritime GmbH ISO 14001 and BS OHSAS 18001 certificates. Now the Carnival Maritime office in Hamburg as well as 26 ships in Carnival Maritime’s fleet have been awarded environmental management ISO 14001 and occupational health and safety management BS OHSAS 18001 certifications. The certified fleet includes Costa and AIDA ships. Initially only ships belonging to Costa Crociere were included in RINA Services scope of work. This was then expanded to include AIDA Cruises ships, in order to incorporate best practice across both fleets.

RINA Group Delivers Ballast Water Management Guidance

International classification society RINA has completely revised and updated its guidance on the Ballast Water Convention and the procurement, installation, operation and certification of Ballast Water Treatment Systems. The guidance is now available to shipowners, shipyards and equipment manufacturers as a Technical Bulletin. RINA Group Widens Gas Sector Services

International classification, certification and engineering group RINA said it has widened its services to the global gas industry. While its traditional classification society arm RINA Services has recently approved a new Compressed Natural Gas carrier to aid the exploitation of marginal fields, the groups’ engineering arm, D’Appolonia, is delivering geotechnical, social and environmental services to the Mozambique LNG development. The gas market and technology are constantly changing, and RINA Services and D’Appolonia lead those changes, according to the group. The first offshore FSRU, the first FLNG project, the first marine CNG ship and the longest offshore pipeline were all delivered with RINA expertise and assistance.

D’Appolonia Takes Majority Stake in SeaTech

D’Appolonia, the independent engineering consulting company of RINA Group, headquartered in Italy, announced it has acquired a majority stake in Fano-based SeaTech Srl. According to D’Appolonia, the acquisition aims to strengthen its position in the marine offshore oil and gas sector. SeaTech provides analysis and design services, manages projects for offshore pipelines, subsea systems and structures and met-ocean monitoring systems, and also provides engineering supervision services on site. Founded in 2000, SeaTech has a current turnover of €2.8 million.

RINA: Energy, Marine Propel Growth

International testing, inspection, certification and consulting engineering group RINA reports it has grown strongly during 2014, propelled by an upturn in marine, acquisition in the energy sector and international diversification. Turnover for 2014 grew 13 percent to Euro 333 million. EBITDA (adjusted) grew to Euro 37.7 million. Ugo Salerno, Chairman and CEO of RINA S.p.A., said, “2014 was an important year for RINA. We were not only able to seize opportunities for new business around the world such as major development projects in Egypt and Turkmenistan, but we were also able to take advantage of signs of recovery in shipping and opportunities in energy.

RINA Expands Into Canada

Italy’s growing engineering, testing, marine services and ship classification group RINA has acquired a majority stake in Montreal-based marine survey company Hayes Stuart. The move gives RINA Services a platform for further expansion into the growing market in Canada. Stefano Socci, General Manager Americas, RINA Services, said, “Hayes Stuart is a well-established Canadian marine survey company with expertise that complements ours. Hayes Stuart has offices in Montreal, Toronto, Quebec City and Halifax and employs fifteen full-time marine experts.

Intesa Sanpaolo, Vei Capital Invest in RINA

Intesa Sanpaolo, through the Merchant Banking Management of its Corporate and Investment Banking Division, and VEI Capital, investment company of Palladio Finanziaria in the Private Equity Mid-Cap segment, have agreed to buy a stake in RINA S.p.A., parent company of the RINA Group, Italy’s E-TIC (Engineering, Testing, Inspection, Certification) service provider. Tasneef-Rina Class First Vessel

Emirates classification society Tasneef has classed its first commercial vessel. The 96,214 dwt oil tanker Energena is jointly-classed with Italian classification society Rina. Yesterday His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, attended a ceremony to mark the flag raising and the granting of classification by Tasneef-Rina. The vessel is owned by Dubai-based Energena Shipping and managed by Gulf Stolt Ship Management JLT, (GSSM).

A Monaco yacht show dedicated to the Green philosophy through numerous initiatives aimed at boosting environmental awareness in the world of pleasure craft. On Saturday 28 September, aboard the 55-meter Ocean Paradise built by Benetti shipyards, an event was held which left a notable green footprint on the decks of the super yachts: leading classification company RINA Services and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation joined forces to promote the sustainable use of wood in the yachting industry.

FMC Opts For Rina LNG TQ

FMC Technologies entrusted Rina Group’s company, RINA Services, with the Technology Qualification of its new technology loading arms designed for installation on the FSRU Toscana and also the Chiksan Articulated Tandem Offshore Loader (ATOL) marine loading arms. Both feature innovative technologies to transfer LNG in a marine environment, and both are now qualified to enter service. RINA and Drydocks World Team Up

Cruise Ship Center of Excellence Launched

Classification society RINA Group has grouped all its experts on cruise vessels under a new Cruise Ships Center of Excellence. The aim is to deliver improved service to operators, designers and builders of cruise vessels, and to foster innovation in new services internally. “We have a lot of expertise around the group which can benefit cruise ship owners. RINA and IB Partner for Ship Management Software Suite

International classification society RINA Group has partnered with Italian software house IB to distribute a software suite aimed at improving ship and fleet operation across the board. RINA to Verify Key Metrics of Euro Tunnel

RINA GROUP is to verify the inter-operability and safety of the longest combined-traffic immersed tunnel in the world.The overall estimated value of the project is 5.5 billion Euros. The Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link will be 18 km long and will connect Denmark with Germany. International certification and classification society, the RINA Group, has been awarded a contract with the Danish company Femern A/S for the verification of the railway interoperability and safety requirements of the Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link. That is an underwater tunnel that will link Germany and Denmark.

RINA Group supports Tasneef

RINA Group has been chosen as the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) partner to support the development of Tasneef, a new classification society for the United Arab Emirates. Emirates Classification – Tasneef has been established in Abu Dhabi and plans to expand with future worldwide offices. Working in partnership with RINA, the goal is to develop Tasneef as an international classification society capable of meeting the technical and classification needs of the region's maritime industry, the UAE flag and international commercial shipping.

RINA Group Wins Greek LNG Terminal Expansion Contract

The international verification and engineering RINA Group will carry out Basic Engineering Design, Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, Safety and other studies for the expansion of Greece’s only LNG terminal, at Revithoussa. The four month project was awarded to RINA by DESFA (Hellenic Gas Transmission System Operator S.A.). The expansion of the LNG Revithoussa Terminal Cryogenic Facilities will boost the maximum sustainable gas send-out rate to 1400 Nm3/h (with a peak send-out rate of 1650 Nm3/h). The existing terminal consists of an import jetty, two full containment storage tanks, plus one under construction, re-gasification equipment and send-out facilities.

RINA Launches Management Shareholding Scheme

International classification society RINA has introduced a management shareholding scheme which will increase group capital by Euro 12 million and give managers across the group the opportunity to share in RINA’s growth. In the first tranche almost 50 per cent of the available shares have been taken up by 90 managers, who have paid Euro 6 million for 2,840 shares, around 5 per cent of the group capital. A further tranche of 3,000 shares will be released to staff over the next four years.
