MAN Introduces the 'Game Changer'

What would Rudolf Diesel say if he could see and compare his engine versus todays’ newest diesel engine development from MAN Diesel & Turbo? As the Augsburg based engine maker claims, “A cylinder output of 1,300 kW this engine puts us to the top.” The largest version of the new engines is a 20-cylinder unit (20V45/60) comes with a limit-pushing power output of 26 MW. The new MAN 45/60CR range is a striking combination of top performance, operational flexibility and reliability.

Kissee Joins TMPS Leadership Team

Trans Marine Propulsion Systems, Inc. (TMPS) announced that Chuck Kissee has joined its leadership team as the Director of Business Development to support Anglo Belgian Corporation (ABC) diesel engine sales. "TMPS is excited to have Chuck leading our expansion in our diesel engine sales division," stated Shane Roeser, TMPS President. “Chuck has years of strategic partnerships and experience selling diesel engines. I knew from our first meeting he would be a solid addition to our team and would support our efforts in sales for the Anglo Belgian Corporation (ABC) diesel engine line.” TMPS has been the United States sales and service center for ABC since 2013. “ABC has been manufacturing diesel engines since 1912 and was one of the first licensees for Rudolf Diesel’s engine design.

TMPS Appointed US Agent for ABC Diesel Engines

Trans Marine Propulsion Systems, (TMPS) appointed agent by Anglo Belgian Corporation (ABC) Diesel Engines. TMPS has locations in Seattle, Washington and Tampa, Florida, and services most makes and types of diesel engines, including medium-speed and slow-speed engines for the marine industry and for diesel power plants. TMPS is one of the world's few service facilities that offer this range of experience. Anglo Belgian Corporation has been manufacturing diesel engines since 1912 and is headquartered in Gent, Belgium. The company has a century of engine-building expertise, founded in 1912 by a group of Belgian entrepreneurs soon after building the first licensed Rudolf Diesel engine.

ABC: Powering Up for the Next 100 Years

On the occasion of its centenary, a new engine type, the DL36, has being launched to meet the future emission directives of 2016. The new range combines a small environmental footprint with the ability to deliver more than 10,000 kW. ABC’s power range will thus more than double, opening up new markets and segments. At the same time ABC has experience with hybrid drives and alternative fuels, from vegetable oils through animal fats to natural and bio gas. Pick Your Power

The inherent diversity of the multitude of vessels plying rivers, lakes, harbors and oceans around the world extends past size and shape and type of service - at the heart of each vessel is a propulsion system. Although propulsion systems may often be considered unique, a variety of typical solutions for most types of vessels already exist. In some cases, it may be preferable to simply specify the duplication of an existing propulsion system, allowing a degree of harmonization in the number of required spares, trained mechanics, and maintenance. It would seem, however, that ship owners and operators are placing an increased premium on designs and solutions both unique and innovative, in order to reduce costs and maximize performance.

The Natural Order

The impact of increasingly stiff rules from legislators regarding ship engine emissions combined with ever increasing demands from ship and boat owners of better life-cycle performance and fuel economy has placed the onus squarely upon the diesel engine manufacturing community to continuously improve products and systems. While the diesel engine community has responded in kind with a variety of enhanced designs and concepts, there is a revolution spurred by evolution brewing in academia which promises to, at the very least, arm diesel engine makers with a system to quickly and cost effectively optimize current diesel engine performance, and to possibly even help to reshape the diesel engine's inner and outer appearance in the name of improving performance.
