MacGregor Equipment for 2 US T-ATS Ships

Finnish marine cargo handling equipment provider MacGregor has been selected to supply repeat packages of deck machinery equipment for two new US Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) towing, salvage and rescue ships (T-ATS).According to a press release from MacGregor, part of Cargotec, the vessels under construction at Gulf Island Shipyards in Houma, Louisiana, US. MacGregor Deck Machinery Selected for Heavy-Duty Naval Operations

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has been selected to supply deck machinery equipment for a US Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) T-ATSX-class vessel under construction at Gulf Island Shipyards, in Houma, Louisiana, US. Rolls-Royce to Design and Power Trawler for Prestfjord

Rolls-Royce has received a supply order from Spain’s Astilleros Gondan shipyard for the design, propulsion and auxiliary machinery systems for what has been dubbed one of world’s most advanced fishing vessels.Scheduled for delivery in 2020 to Prestfjord Seafood, a division of Norway’s Holmøy Maritime, the 77m trawler will be based on a Rolls-Royce NVC 732 WP design arranged with triple trawl and pelagic trawl for operation in Arctic waters catching white fish and shrimps. Rapp Deck Equipment for New Krill Vessel

Rapp Marine informs it will supply a complete electric deck machinery package for a new 130-meter-long krill vessel under construction for Aker BioMarine at Vard Group AS in Norway. The total contract value is 1 billion NOK (Approximately US$118.5 million). “This is our first delivery to a krill vessel,” said Tor-Idar Øye, Rapp Marine VP Sales. All plans and specifications for the new vessel have been developed in cooperation with fishermen from Aker BioMarine and engineers from Vard Group AS, according to Aker BioMarine.

Rolls-Royce Wins Sinopacific Contract

Rolls-Royce has signed a contract with Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group (Sinopacific) in Shanghai for a package of power and propulsion equipment and deck machinery. The contract is to equip nine SPA80A Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessels to be designed and built by Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group and owned and operated by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and its wholly-owned subsidiary, ESNAAD. Each ship will have a bollard pull of 80 metric tons, and be equipped with Bergen diesel engines, main and tunnel thrusters, electrical power system and a deck machinery package from Rolls-Royce.

MacGregor's Deck Machinery for Sentinel Marine ERRV

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, will supply deck machinery for a new 65m emergency rescue & response vessel (ERRV) for Sentinel Marine. The ship has been designed by Focal Marine & Offshore Pte Ltd and will have a bollard pull of 100 tonnes of FOCAL 552. The order for the complete MacGregor anchor handling solution was booked into the third quarter 2015 order intake. MacGregor will supply a complete deck machinery package including a 200-tonne line pull / 300-tonne brake holding anchor handling towing winch, complete with a hydraulic spooling device, as well as Triplex shark jaws and guide pins. Maersk Orders Rolls-Royce’s New Anchor Recovery Frames

Maersk Supply Service has exercised an option to add Rolls-Royce’s new Anchor Recovery Frames (ARF) to the supply contract awarded in December for deck machinery for six anchor handler vessels under construction at Norway’s Kleven Verft AS. Vard Orders Rolls-Royce Equipment for Rem OCV/AH

Rolls-Royce has won a £19m contract with the Norwegian shipbuilding group Vard to deliver deck machinery, propulsion and engines to a new offshore construction and anchor handling vessel (OCV) for the Norwegian owner REM Supply. The vessel will be designed by Vard. The new vessel is developed for underwater construction work and anchor handling operations in Arctic waters and will have approximately 380 to 400 ton bollard pull to fulfill the demands for operational power in the deepwater segment. Rolls-Royce Engines, Equipment for Bourbon

Rolls-Royce is to deliver deck machinery and engines to an arctic Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessel (AHTS) to be built by Vard for Bourbon Offshore Norway. The contract has a value in excess of £17 million for Rolls-Royce. The deck machinery delivery from Rolls-Royce will consist of anchor handling winches, secondary winches, auxiliary winches, anchor handling cranes and a wide range of safer deck operation equipment. The engine delivery consists of two main engines and three main generator engines. AHTS vessels are built to handle anchors for oil rigs and perform rig moves.

Rolls-Royce Develops OSV for Island Offshore

Rolls-Royce has won an order to provide integrated design and ship equipment for a highly innovative offshore vessel for Norwegian ship owner Island Offshore. The new striking UT 777 design has been developed in close cooperation with Island Offshore, to be used in offshore drilling operations during harsh weather conditions. The vessel (MOU) will be built in Japan by Kawasaki Heavy Industries and is scheduled for delivery in 2017. The contract is worth around £25 million to Rolls-Royce.

Rapp Hydema Hauls in the Research Vessel Market

Rapp Hydema has been supplying deck machinery to research vessels since 1977, but this global market recently became especially significant for the group. In 2002, in what would be a watershed project, Rapp Hydema was chosen to outfit the NOAA Fishery Survey Vessel (FSV) Oscar Dyson class of vessels. The first four ships in the class were being constructed at VT Halter Marine Shipyard. “That NOAA research vessel contract provided us with excellent exposure,” said Johann Sigurjonsson, President of Rapp Hydema U.S.

Record Contract Awarded to Rapp Hydema

Rapp Hydema and Triplex were awarded a record-sized deck machinery contract for Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Research Organization (CSIRO). CSIRO selected Teekay Holdings Australia and Sembawang Shipyard Pte Ltd. to carry out  the design, build and commissioning of the vessel. Sembawang and Teekay appointed RALion (a joint-venture between Alion Science and Robert Allan LTD) to carry out the vessel basic design. The new vessel, named the Investigator, is scheduled for mid-2013 delivery. The consolidated deck and handling machinery package is due for delivery in 3Q 2012.

HATLAPA Acquires Triplex AS, Extends Portfolio

Hamburg-based manufacturer HATLAPA Marine Equipment has purchased a majority shareholding in the Norwegian deck machinery company Triplex AS. In doing so HATLAPA’s traditional product portfolio of compressors, steering gear and winches has now been significantly expanded to include all components of a typical deck machinery package for supply vessels and AHTs. With oil and gas exploration and production taking place in deeper and deeper waters the requirements of support vessels is developing significantly and with it the need for more sophisticated and automated equipment.

Rapp Hydema Buys Hydra Pro

Rapp Marine Group recently acquired Hydra Pro Seattle, a crane manufacturing firm. Possessing both American Petroleum Institute (API) Spec 2C and ISO 9001:  2008 certifications, Rapp Hydra Pro is a rarity in the crane community. Hydra Pro also manufactures A-Frames, cylinders and other associated machinery. Hydra Pro’s clientele includes customers the offshore oil industry, the U.S. military, and various other marine subsectors, including ROV-handling. Kurt Manchester is the new Hydra Pro President; he has over 25 years of manufacturing experience.

Rapp Hydema Winches for Alaska Research Vessel

Rapp Hydema NW has been awarded a major contract for supply of a complete suite of winches including oceanographic traction, hydrographic, and CTD winches, two storage reels, side-handling boom, control systems and other equipment for the Alaska Regional Research Vessel (ARRV). The vessel is being built at Marinette Marine Shipyard. In addition, Rapp was awarded integrative services as Scientific Handling Services Integrator (SHSI) for the project. The vessel is to be operated by the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. Rapp earlier provided all deck machinery for the four NOAA FSV class vessels already commissioned. In addition, Rapp has just been awarded the deck machinery package and integration services for the fifth NOAA FSV class vessel.

Rolls-Royce Marine Tech Off Brazil’s Coast

Rolls-Royce has secured a $61.3b contract to supply a newly-developed anchor handling system that will enable floating oil platforms to be secured to the seabed in the extreme depths off the coast of Brazil. The system has been developed in response to the increase in deep water oil exploration and will be fitted to two vessels serving platforms owned by Brazilian oil company Petrobas. The vessels are currently under construction by STX Brasil Offshore and each one will carry more than 1,000 tonnes of Rolls-Royce equipment.

MacGREGOR Plimsoll Wins $7.27M Order

At the end of October, Niigata Shipbuilding & Repair Inc. in Japan ordered five shipsets of deck machinery to be installed on 70m-long offshore anchor-handling tug/supply (AHTS) vessels being built for a Japanese owner. Three shipsets of equipment will be delivered in 2008, and the other two in 2009, and the total contract value is approximately $7.27m. Each deck machinery package features MacGREGOR Plimsoll-designed electro-hydraulic drive main winches, with a 200-tonne line pull and 300-tonne brake holding power. Also included are a service crane, a 300 tonnes SWL sharkjaw towpin, and a newly designed stern roller which uses a taper roller bearing instead of the conventional bush bearing type.
