Gothenburg-Belgium RORO Traffic Goes Up

Ro/Ro traffic between Sweden and the continent are increasing, as volumes between Gothenburg and Belgium have risen for the ninth consecutive year. During this period volumes between Belgium during have doubled, and the number of departures has risen from 12 to 16.Shipping companies are also in the process of expanding their networks from Gothenburg across large parts of Europe – often via the Belgian ports in Ghent and Zeebrugge, which act as hubs for intra-European ro-ro traffic.During 2017, 254,000 ro-ro units were shipped between Gothenburg and Belgium, and the forecast for 2018 reveals a 10 per cent increase to almost 280,000 units.

Delivery of the Cüneyt Solakoglu

On Thursday, 12th March 2009, another newbuilding for Flensburger´s Turkish customer U.N RO-RO will be delivered on time and will leave the yard on Saturday, 14th March 2009, early in the morning. Flensburger Newbuilding No. 749

On Friday Dec 19 the naming and launching ceremony of a new 634 ft RoRo freight ferry will take place in Flensburg, Germany. The freight ferry is the thirteenth of fourteen RoRo vessels, which our longstanding Turkish customer U.N. Ro-Ro has ordered with Flensburger. U.N. Ro-Ro is in ownership of the private investor KKR (New York), who took over the shipping company U.N Ro-Ro in 2007. The vessel will be christened Cüneyt Solakoglu. The vessel’s godmother is Mrs. Zeynap Feryal Solakoglu, spouse of Mr. Cüneyt Solakoglu (CEO of UN RoRo). Main particulars of the U.N. Length o.a. Breadth    85.

RoRo Named and Launched

On March 14, 2008 the Naming and Launching ceremony of a new 3735 lane metres RoRo freight ferry took place in . She is the eleventh of fourteen RoRo vessels, which our longstanding Turkish customer U.N. Ro-Ro has ordered with Flensburger. U.N. RoRo is now in ownership of the private investor KKR (), who took over the shipping company U.N RoRo in 2007 for approximately 910 million Euro. The vessel will be christened UN Akdeniz and then launched. The first ship of the series had the same name. She and the second vessel UN Karadeniz have in the meantime been sold to Norfolk Line, a subsidiary of the Maersk Group. Flensburg Makes its Mark Again

In a further display of hard-earned competitiveness tempered by pure industrial will, Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft has brought another export shipbuilding contract to Germany at a time of ever-more determined incursions by oriental yards into the European market. The Flensburg yard's sealing of a deal with Belgian shipping and logistics company Cobelfret for two container/RoRo (ConRo) vessels has strengthened its standing as a builder of large, RoRo equipped vessels for demanding shortsea trades. The Cobelfret newbuilds have been dubbed the Humbermax type, having been optimized for North Sea service linking the company's new Killingholme terminal on Humberside, in eastern England, with Zeebrugge and Rotterdam in the Low Countries.
