Scott Phillips Appointed Hiab President

Scott Phillips has been appointed President of Hiab crane manufacturing division of Cargotec group as of 1 October 2018. He will be a member of the Cargotec Executive Board and report to CEO Mika Vehviläinen. Scott Phillips joins Cargotec from General Electric where he holds the position of Vice President and CEO Mining. Prior to that, he has during his 28 years' career held various global leadership positions in the construction and mining industries, working for Sandvik and Caterpillar Inc., among others. "I warmly welcome Scott to Cargotec and Hiab. He has a proven track record of leading global, multi-billion euro technology businesses in various geographies.

China’s CMP Renews MAN 4-stroke License Deal

CSSC Marine Power Co., Ltd. (CMP), an engine-manufacturing division of Chinese State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), has renewed its contract with MAN Diesel & Turbo for another 10 years of production of four-stroke medium speed engines. The new agreement was finalized at a signing ceremony in Anqing, Anhui province on October 8, 2015, and marks the renewal and continuation of a cooperation that first started in the 1980s. Beier Radio, Sentinel, Expand, Move to New Offices

Beier Radio, LLC says that with Sentinel Controls it has relocated operations to a new facility in Gray, Louisiana, along the bustling Central Gulf coast near Houma. In addition, Beier Radio’s corporate office for administration and sales has moved from Belle Chasse to Mandeville, Louisiana, north of New Orleans. The move consolidates Beier Radio’s engineering, service, parts, and training departments, and Sentinel’s manufacturing operations at the new Gray campus, putting the companies in closer proximity to Port Fourchon, the intermodal port of choice for much of the Central Gulf energy activity. The new facility is located along U.S. Highway 90, providing both Beier Radio and Sentinel with more efficient access to their marine clients for equipment design, installation and service.

Irving Furthers Investment in Halifax Yard Modernization

Irving Shipbuilding announced $28.2 million in additional contract awards to Canadian-based suppliers as part of the Halifax Shipyard Modernization Program, a two-year engineering and construction investment to prepare the company’s facilities to build Canada's future combatant ships. “To date a total value of $175 million in contracts have been awarded as part of our overall investment of approximately $300 million in the Halifax Shipyard Modernization Program” said Kevin McCoy, President, Irving Shipbuilding.

ACL to Haul for SeaRiver Maritime

American Commercial Lines Will Transport Petroleum Products by Inland Barge for SeaRiver Maritime Inc. American Commercial Lines (ACL) is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement with SeaRiver Maritime Inc., a marine affiliate of Exxon Mobil Corporation, to provide petroleum barge transportation services on the U.S. inland waterways. As of January 1, 2013, ACL has entered into a multi-year agreement with SeaRiver to transport liquid cargoes via its mainline service and in unit tows. "We look forward to partnering with SeaRiver to transport ExxonMobil cargoes on the inland waterways," Mark Knoy, President and Chief Executive Officer of ACL, stated.

ACL to Begin Transporting Canadian Crude Oil

American Commercial Lines (ACL) is pleased to announce that it will begin transporting crude oil by barge on the U.S. inland waterways for MEG Energy (U.S.) Inc. (MEG Energy), a subsidiary of the Canadian oil company MEG Energy Corp. Crude oil will arrive primarily via pipeline and will be transferred to barges at storage terminals located on the inland waterways for transport by ACL to the Gulf Coast. Roanwell Enters Marine Market: Acquires Bees Manufacturing

US-based Roanwell Corp. purchases Bees Manufacturing LLC gains entry to marine market. Roanwell, a maker of rugged communications equipment and contract manufacturer of high precision close tolerance machined parts, will be able to enter the marine marketplace through the acquisition. Bees Manufacturing, LLC, ("Bees"), est. 1929, of Weymouth, MA, is a contract manufacturer of various alloy and plastic precision machined components for OEMs in the deep sea marine, medical, and industrial markets. Bees manufacturing operations will merge into Roanwell Corporation's Absolute Manufacturing Division, located in Pepperell, MA. The name "Bees" will be discontinued as products will be shipped under the Absolute Manufacturing name.

Freeman Marine Under New Ownership

Under New Ownership, Freeman Marine becomes part of the Advanced Marine Technologies Group. Freeman Marine Equipment Inc., a globally recognized brand and major US supplier to the worldwide marine industry, is now part of Advanced Marine Technologies (AMT). The company was purchased by AdvanTec Global Innovations of British Columbia, Canada. AdvanTec owns the four companies that make up the AMT Group. The other members of the group are Diamond Sea Glaze, Steelhead Marine and Manly Marine. Freeman Marine is the latest acquisition AdvanTec has made in its marine manufacturing division.

Jeffboat Safety Milestone

American Commercial Lines Inc. (NASDAQ: ACLI) (ACL) announced that on December 15, its Manufacturing Division, Jeffboat, accomplished the safety milestone of working two million hours without a lost time injury (an injury requiring time off from work) for the first time in its more than 70 years of operation. The shipyard has reached one million hours worked without a lost time injury twice in its history, most recently in June 2009. While Jeffboat has continually decreased injuries since 2004, it continues to implement new safety programs, including providing additional training to employees and conducting detailed investigations to identify root causes of injuries and implement corrective actions. Jeffboat Wins Labor Award

American Commercial Lines Inc. (NASDAQ:ACLI) announced that its manufacturing division, Jeffboat, and Teamsters Local Union No. 89 have received the 16th annual Labor-Management Award from the University of Louisville Labor-Management Center. The award, which honors an area workplace in which management and labor have demonstrated cooperative relations, was presented at the Labor-Management Center 2009 Award Banquet held on April 16. Jeffboat and the Union were praised by the Labor-Management Center for fostering a culture of open dialogue and communication at all levels of the workplace. Rowan - Ralls CEO, Lentz COB

Rowan Companies, Inc. (NYSE: RDC) announced that, effective January 1, 2009, its Board of Directors has named W. Matt Ralls as the company's new President, Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors, succeeding D.F. McNease, who announced his retirement in late October 2008. Mr. Ralls, 59, most recently served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of GlobalSantaFe Corporation, an international contract drilling company, from June 2005 until the completion of the merger of GlobalSantaFe with Transocean, Inc. in November 2007. Prior to that time Mr. Ralls served as Senior Vice President and CFO of GlobalSantaFe. He joined Global Marine, Inc.

Rowan 3Q Operating Results

For the three months ended September 30, 2008, Rowan Companies, Inc. (NYSE: RDC) generated net income of $114.1m or $1.00 per share, compared to $130.8m or $1.16 per share in the third quarter of 2007 and $120.6m or $1.06 per share in the second quarter of 2008. Revenues were $527.1m in the third quarter of 2008, compared to $502.2m in the third quarter of 2007 and $587.1m in the second quarter of 2008. The third quarter 2008 results included $21.4m, or $0.12 per share, of gains on asset sales, compared to $1.1m, or less than $0.01 per share, in the third quarter of 2007 and $1.5m, or $0.01 per share, in the second quarter of 2008. Rowan Obtains Contract for Jack-up Gorilla II

The two-year commitment is planned to begin in January 2009 and expected to provide approximately $137 million in drilling revenues. The rig will be performing drilling services as well as assisting with various construction projects. Rowan Companies Inc. provides international and domestic contract drilling services and owns and operates a manufacturing division that produces equipment for the drilling, mining and timber industries.

Rowan Announces New Drilling Commitments

Rowan Companies, Inc. announced that it has signed a drilling contract for one of its Gorilla class rigs for approximately six months of work offshore eastern Canada that should begin in mid 2009.The company has committed either the Rowan Gorilla II or Rowan Gorilla III to this assignment, depending on first availability, and expects total revenues, including mobilization and modification fees, of approximately $56m. A six-month commitment for CNR expected to commence by the third quarter of 2009 and generate $55 million of drilling revenues. A subsequent six-month extension for BG expected to occur in 2010 and generate $55m of drilling revenues. Rowan Companies, Inc. is a major provider of international and domestic contract drilling services.

Glasier Named Executive VP at AVEVA

AVEVA announced that Rob Glasier has been promoted to Executive Vice President effective July 2, and will serve as the Head of The Americas for AVEVA; where he will be responsible for all of AVEVA's software and services business across all the Process, Power, Marine and related industries in the Americas region. Prior to this appointment, Rob has been responsible for AVEVA Americas’ Marine business for the shipbuilding and offshore industry, as well as its asset and information lifecycle management business. Prior to AVEVA, Rob was Head of Business Development, and an Owner of RealityWave Inc., which was acquired by AVEVA, and whose technology is a component of AVEVA’s NET Portal, VNET. Rob has extensive experience in sales, marketing, development, and senior management.

CSSC Will Implement Autodesk Software

Autodesk, Inc., announced that China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) will purchase 10,000 licenses of the Autodesk Inventor Series over the next three years, primarily for the use of Autodesk Inventor 3D mechanical design software included in the Autodesk Inventor Series. CSSC worked with China Daheng Information Technology Corporation, Autodesk’s Manufacturing channel partner in China, to select the Autodesk software as its standard for digital design. The collaborative capabilities of Autodesk’s software will help CSSC promote digital information exchange among ship design enterprises and ship owners. CSSC also anticipates that improved collaboration will increase competitiveness throughout its shipbuilding supply chain, improving quality and enhancing results.
