Vantage Drilling Sinks Into the Red

Texas-based offshore drilling contractor Vantage Drilling International reported a net loss of  $52.2 million for the three months ended December 31, 2018 as compared to a net loss of $36.6 million for the three months ended December 31, 2017.For the year ended December 31, 2018, Vantage reported a net loss of $141.5 million or as compared to a net loss of $149.8 million for the year ended December 31, 2017.Vantage, a Cayman Islands exempted company, issued $350 million of new senior secured notes using proceeds to repay its first and second lien debt and to acquire the Soehanah jackup for $85.0, including transaction costs.Ihab Toma, CEO, Said: "We refinanced two tranches of debt thereby extending maturities to 2023.

Vantage Gets Extension of Contract for the Emerald Driller

Crowley Ramps up Investment in Puerto Rico

Crowley Puerto Rico Services announced an additional $21 million construction contract for improvements and upgrades at its Isla Grande port terminal in San Juan. Art Anderson Associates Wins 5-year NOAA Deal

Art Anderson Associates informs it has been awarded a five year Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) for program and project management as well as other services supporting the Marine Engineering Branch for oceanographic and fisheries research ships and small vessels operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Office of Marine Operations (OMAO). The agreement will allow NOAA to contract with Art Anderson Associates for integration and project management services including acquisition, program and mission management, technical writing, ship construction supervision services, post shakedown availability support and waterfront production oversight. The award is the second major BPA awarded to Art Anderson Associates this year from NOAA.

New Tug for NY Power Authority

A newly built 45-foot twin-screw tug Daniel Joncaire II has been launched for the New York Power Authority (NYPA), the vessel’s designer Bristol Harbor Group, Inc. (BHGI) announced today. BHGI was awarded a contract by NYPA to engineer, design and perform construction supervision support services for two new tug vessels following its 2009 involvement in the design/build process for NYPA’s new barge, the Havasu II, which led to a study that compared and contrasted the initial and long-term costs to repair and update their existing tugs, or replace them.

GasLog Proft Doubles, But Misses Forecast

Monaco-based liquefied natural gas carrier owner GasLog has reported a sharp increase in profits in 1Q15, saying the sector's medium- to long-term outlook remains encouraging. Group net profits jumped to $13.8 million in 1Q15 from $6.4 million in the same period last year, as revenues rose to $97.3 million from $57 million. “Against a back drop of weak overall energy markets, the first quarter of 2015 saw us take delivery of the Methane Becki Anne and the Methane Julia Louise, bringing our consolidated fleet to 27 vessels,” Paul Wogan, Chief Executive Officer of GasLog said. The company reported $0.13 earnings per share (EPS) for the quarter, missing the consensus estimate of $0.14 by $0.01. During the same quarter in the previous year, the company posted $0.13 earnings per share.

Parsons Wins Dubai Water Canal Project

Engineering, construction, technical, and professional services provider, Parsons, says it has been awarded a contract by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to perform infrastructure design services for the Dubai Water Canal Project. Planned to be a major tourist destination, the Dubai Water Canal will include a new shopping center, hotels, and restaurants, in addition to luxury housing and cycling paths. It is expected to provide new areas for public places and facilities, as well as private marinas for boats and a new trade center at the canal’s entrance. “Parsons has been working with RTA for many years, and we look forward to continuing to be RTA’s partner of choice for this landmark project,” said Hamed Zaghw, President of Parsons International Limited.

Teekay LNG Acquires Interests in Four LNG Newbuildings

Teekay LNG Partners L.P. announced that it has acquired from BG Group ownership interests in four 174,000 cubic meter Tri-Fuel Diesel Electric (TFDE) liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier newbuildings, which will be constructed by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. in China. The vessels, which are scheduled to deliver between September 2017 and January 2019, will each operate under 20-year time-charter contracts, plus extension options, with Methane Services Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of BG.

Large Project Awarded to Elliott Bay

The new SOLAS regulations are at the center of a large project recently awarded to Elliott Bay Design Group (EBDG). The Seattle-based naval architecture and marine engineering firm is providing a variety of services in conjunction with the installation of new lifeboat and davit systems aboard three large BP chartered ships. The retrofit program for the ships is being carried out well ahead of the requirement date, according to officials. EBDG is providing detail design, engineering, regulatory liaison and on-site construction supervision services for the project. The upgrade replaces the vessels' open lifeboats and gravity davits with new enclosed motor lifeboats that are capable of self-launching.
