Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd (SHI) received an Approval in Principle (AiP) for an LNG carrier design under Bureau Veritas’ (BV) Cyber Managed Prepared notation. The certificate was delivered to the Hyun Joe Kim, Vice President of SHI, by Christophe Capitant, Chief Country Executive of BV Korea, at a ceremony on SHI R&D Center in Daejeon, Republic of Korea.SHI has received the AiP for its SVESSEL smart ship solution, which focuses on complete digitalization of the ship and its applications.

Long-term Charter: NYK Delivers New LNG Carrier to TotalEnergies

Japanese shipping firm NYK said Thursday it had delivered the LNG carrier LNG Endeavour to TotalEnergies on a long-term charter.The vessel commercially managed by France LNG Shipping, a French ship-owning company jointly owned by NYK and Geogas LNG, was delivered on October 20. The 293 meters long vessel was built by Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea. NYK did not say how long exactly the charter with total would be.The LNG carrier is equipped with a WinGD X-DF diesel engine that can operate on fuel oil or boil-off gas stored in its cargo tank.

Wärtsilä to Supply Navigation Systems for 10 Arctic LNG Carriers

Wärtsilä Voyage has signed a contract to deliver radio and integrated navigation systems for 10 icebreaking liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers to be constructed for the Arctic LNG-2 project.The order was placed in January 2021 and is now in process of execution, in partnership with South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd shipyard. The new contract is an extension of the announcement made last summer, where Wärtsilä Voyage equipped five LNG carriers with integrated bridge systems under the same project.

Report: SBM Offshore Only Bidder for Petrobras' Mero 4 FPSO

SHI Wins Two Ice-class Tanker Order

MISC Secures ExxonMobil LNG Tanker Contract

MISC Berhad (MISC) through its wholly-owned subsidiaries have secured agreements with Exxon Mobil Corporation’s wholly-owned subsidiary, SeaRiver Maritime LLC (SeaRiver) for the time charter contracts of two Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carriers.Each of the LNG carriers will respectively serve the transportation needs of ExxonMobil’s worldwide LNG portfolio on a 15-year charter contract.Prior to this, MISC, through the same subsidiaries have also signed an agreement with Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (SHI) for the construction of the LNG carriers in Korea.

Höegh LNG Wins FSRU Deal with Cheniere

Norway-based floating LNG giant Höegh LNG has signed a time charter contract for a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) Höegh Galleon with Cheniere Marketing International.The time charter commences in September 2019 after the delivery of the unit, Höegh LNG’s tenth, from Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd.The terms of the time charter ensure the Höegh Galleon’s availability to serve the AIE project in Port Kembla, Australia, where Höegh LNG is the FSRU provider on a back-to-back basis. SHI Bags $125mln Order for 2 Crude Carriers

Teekay, Samsung Opt for Hydroniq Coolers

Norwegian supplier Hydroniq Coolers has won contracts from Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. (SHI) to deliver the cooling system for the engines of the six LNG-fuelled shuttle tankers the shipbuilder is constructing for Teekay Offshore.As per the contracts, Hydroniq Coolers – formerly named Sperre Coolers – will deliver its Hydroniq Rack seawater cooling solution that is integrated in the hull below the main engine room of the vessels.
