Todd Shipyards Contract for USCGC Polar Star

Todd Shipyards Corp. announced that the U.S. Coast Guard has awarded to its subsidiary, Todd Pacific Shipyards Corp., a $16,008,228 modification to previously awarded contract HSCG85-09-C-6BX667 in support of USCGC Polar Star's (WAGB-10) reactivation since being in "Caretaker Status" nearly four years. According to a release, repairs and alterations performed during the planned dry-docking availability of the icebreaker are in the third phase of the cutter's overhaul. The contract modification provides for the alteration and repair of ship's systems, engines and shipboard equipment. The work will be accomplished at Todd Pacific's Seattle shipyard beginning immediately, and is expected to be complete in July 2011.

Todd Shipyards Gets $3.1M Overhaul Contract

Todd Pacific Shipyards Corp. has received a $3.1 million contract to overhaul the USNS Guadalupe, a oiler naval vessel that provides fuel for Navy ships at sea, Puget Sound Business Journal reported. According to Todd, a subsidiary of Seattle-based Todd Shipyards Corp., the contract work includes: tank cleaning and inspection, galley equipment replacement, habitability space repairs, main engine overhaul work, replacement of the low pressure air compressor, and various other machinery, electrical, ventilation, and piping items. The Guadalupe is expected to arrive at Todd's shipyard on April 22 for its 30-day overhaul. Source: Business Journal

USCG Accepts Benkert Award Nominees

The U.S. Coast Guard is soliciting for applications for the biennial Rear Admiral William M. Benkert, Marine Environmental Protection Award for Excellence. The program recognizes corporations and businesses involved in marine facility or vessel operations that have demonstrated sustained excellence and outstanding achievement in protecting the marine environment. It also encourages innovations in operations, maintenance, cargo handling, refueling, training, and provides a means for award recipients to share their successful methods and techniques with others in industry. Applications will be accepted from December 01, 2005 to March 31, 2006. SCA Elects New Chairman

The Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA) announced that Steve Welch, chief executive officer of Todd Pacific Shipyards Corp., has been elected its new chairman, replacing Donald T. “Boysie” Bollinger, chief executive officer of Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. Butch King, chief executive officer of VT Halter Marine, Inc., was elected to the position of vice-chair. The elections took place during the Council’s annual Spring Meeting, held April 30 through May 1, in Washington, DC.

Todd Shipyards Wins $11m Contract

Todd Pacific Shipyards Corp., Seattle Division, Seattle Wash., won an estimated $10,949,272 award fee/performance fee modification under previously awarded contract (N00024-04-C-4152) to exercise an option for performance of the dry dock ship planned incremental availability of the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). The aim of the contract is to provide year-around maintenance so as to maximize vessel readiness. The option will authorize the second major industrial dry docking availability of the contract, and entails modification and repair of shipboard equipment, hull and ship systems. Work will be performed in Bremerton, Wash., and is expected to be completed by March 2007. Contract will expire by the end of the current fiscal year.

Todd Wins $5.1M Contract

Todd Pacific Shipyards Corp., Seattle Division, Seattle, Wash., is being awarded a $5,180,291 multiple award contract for the performance of drydock repairs and preservation of drydock caisson #4. Work will be performed in Bremerton, Wash., and is expected to be completed by November 2006. Contract funds will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured with three offers received. The Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility, Northwest Regional Maintenance Center, Bremerton, Wash., is the contracting activity (N62799-02-D-0001).

Todd Shipyards to Perform Overhaul

Todd Pacific Shipyards Corp. received a $29 million contract from the Washington State Ferry Systems for the overhaul of its ferry M/V Yakima. The overhaul encompasses replacement of most of the lower vehicle deck; installation of the vessel's new furniture and fixtures; removal and reinstallation of propulsion motors, main diesel engines and propulsion generators. The work, which began upon the vessel's arrival at the shipyard on October 22, is expected to last 15 months.

Todd Wins $6M Deal

Todd Pacific Shipyards Corp., Seattle Division, Seattle, Wash., is being awarded a $6,060,005 cost-plus-award-fee option under contract N00024-99-C-8503 for performance of Docking Phased Incremental Availability 2 of the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). The option is one of 18 on an existing 5-year contract for non-propulsion work on CVN 68 Class nuclear-powered aircraft carriers homeported in the Pacific Northwest, exclusive of the propulsion plant and exclusive of nuclear spaces and systems. The aim of the contract is to provide year-round maintenance so as to maximize vessel readiness. Work will be performed in Bremerton, Wash., and is expected to be completed by May 2004. Contract funds in the amount of $6,060,005 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.
