SCHOTTEL to Propel Windcat Offshore's Latest Walk-to-Work CSOVs

The first three new Walk-to-Work Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOVs) built by the Dutch Damen Group for Windcat Offshore will be powered by full propulsion packages from SCHOTTEL. With vessel sizes of 87 metres by 20 metres, each CSOV will come with high-comfort accommodation for 120 passengers, and will provide a large warehouse and deck as well as various recreational areas and a hospital. Damen Shipyards Galati Celebrates 130 Years

This year sees a milestone moment for Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania as the yard marks 130 years of operation. Part of the Damen Shipyards Group since 1999, the Galati yard has been responsible for some of the company’s largest and most complex vessel deliveries to date.The Galati yard, on the banks of the Danube, first opened its gates in 1893. Beginning life as a mechanical construction and iron and bronze foundry, by 1897, it had gone into the ship repair business and was known as G. Fernic et Co Shipyard.

Turkey's Feyz Group Orders Three Cargo Ships from Damen

Damen Shipyards and Turkey’s Feyz Group have signed a contract for the delivery of three new Damen Combi Freighters 3850, with the vessels set to be delivered in early 2025. The deal marks Damen's first new build cargo vessel sale to a Turkish customer.The Combi Freighter (CF) 3850 is a recently redesigned general cargo vessel with a deadweight of 3,850 tonnes. With a length overall of 89.70 meters and a 12.50-meter beam, Damen says the vessel is capable of maintaining speeds of more than 10 knots in headwinds when fully loaded, due to the hydrodynamic properties of the hull shape.

Damen Repairs P&O Ferries’ Pride of Canterbury

Late last year, a team of Damen group subsidiaries completed a challenging project to replace one of the twin rudder stocks on P&O Ferries’ Pride of Canterbury. Keel Laid for Nigerian Navy Landing Craft

Damen Develops BWT Ex Deckhouse

Dutch shipbuilding and engineering conglomerate Damen Group said that it has developed standard Ballast Water Treatment Ex certified deckhouses that can withstand slamming of waves.The deckhouses can be placed on the open deck of a tanker vessel, it said in a press release.Since a container construction is not designed to withstand the forces of wave slamming on the open deck of a tanker vessel. Damen has developed a deckhouse with an eight millimeter wall thickness that is able to withstand wave slamming forces. Fully meeting the requirements of the classification societies.Each deckhouse is delivered as a pre-assembled solution, including the ballast water treatment system with all internal piping and wiring, for easy integration into the vessel.

DSO Gets AAA Credit Rating

AKF Signs Pact with Fendercare

Damen Delivers CSD500-S to ERA

Dutch shipbuilding conglomerate Damen Group announced that Damen Dredging Equipment has delivered CSD500-S, a fully customised cutter dredger for acidic environment,  to Australian customer, Energy Resources of Australia (ERA)."The Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD), which has been named the Brolga I, will work in an acidic environment with a pH of approximately 3 for which a wide array of adaptations have been incorporated," it said in a press release.The dredger has been shipped to Antwerp, where it was loaded on board a transport vessel bound for the north of Australia. Damen Shipyards Group, Adriatic Marinas and the Montenegrin Government have signed a contract for redevelopment of Bijela shipyard. Damen Lays Keel for New CEMEX Dredger

Damen Shipyards Group recently held a keel-laying ceremony for the CEMEX Go Innovation at Damen Shipyards Mangalia in Romania. Last Thursday, Damen Shipyards Gorinchem hosted the Damen group’s third annual Workboat Festival. The event brought together more than 200 customers, media and industry partners, and 34 workboats, for an afternoon of presentations, demonstrations, product displays and interactive exhibits.The workboats ranged in size from ten-meter Stan Launches and Stan Tugs up to a 72-meter Stan Pontoon. In between were Fast Crew Suppliers, Stan Pilots, Stan Patrols, additional Stan Launches and Tugs, plus an Interceptor and a RHIB.

New ASD Tug for Saam Smit in Panama

Saam Smit Towage has ordered a new ASD (Azimuth Stern Drive) 2411 tug from Damen Shipyards, for operations in the port of Colón, Panama. Built for stock at Damen Song Cam Shipyard in Vietnam, it was subsequently transported to the Netherlands for finishing. With the agreement in place the new vessel, named the SST Portobelo, is now underway to join the 11-strong Saam Smit tug fleet in Panama. The SST Portobelo is the first ASD 2411 for Saam Smit in Panama. In October 2015, the company placed an order for an ASD Tug 2913, named the SST Rambala, which was delivered in May 2016.

'Team Damen' Unites Dutch and Australian Industry

Australian Maritime Systems Group is entering into a joint venture with one of Europe’s leading marine technology companies as part of a tender for Australia’s next giant defence contract. The Brisbane-based company is partnering with Dutch firm Alewijnse Marine to support the Damen Group’s bid to build the next generation of 12 Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs) for the Royal Australian Navy. The vessels will be mainly constructed in Adelaide and Perth, but AMSG’s involvement would generate highly-skilled and long-term electrical engineering jobs for the Queensland-based company.

Damen to Convert Dredger to Dual-fuel LNG/MGO

Damen Shiprepair & Conversion has been awarded a contract to undertake the conversion of a dredger to dual-fuel capability combining LNG and MGO – a first of its kind project in Europe. The contract was awarded by Rouen-based GIE Dragages-Ports with regard to its 117m, 8500m³ trailing suction hopper dredger Samuel de Champlain, and the works will take place next year at Damen Shiprepair Dunkerque. The conversion is part of an EU-supported initiative to promote LNG propulsion in short-sea vessels operating along the European Atlantic coast.
