NOIA Appoints New Executives

The National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA) has appointed and approved the 2024-2025 term of the NOIA Board of Directors and Executive Committee. ABS Issues AIP for Ammonia-fueled Containership

Classification society ABS informs it has awarded an approval in principle (AIP) to Korea Maritime Consultants Co., Ltd. Cenertech's New FPSO to be Built to ABS Class

Bawat's BWTS Being Offered for Portside Applications

UK Coastguard Replacing Emergency Radio Network

The U.K.'s Maritime and Coastguard Agency is investing over £170 million ($221.5 million) in a new radio network for Her Majesty’s Coastguard. The new network will be built and maintained by telent Technology Services Ltd. and is a significant investment in telecommunications infrastructure in rural areas.The existing network will be replaced with a modern and resilient fiber-based hybrid network, that will provide increased reliability, bandwidth and security.The new network will ensure HM Coastguard can continue to communicate with ships in U.K.

KR Certifies First Cyber Security Compliant Vessel

Korean Register (KR) has completed a comprehensive cyber security survey of the chemical/oil tanker SONGA HAWK and has certified the ship to be fully compliant in all areas, the very first ship to achieve the certification.Songa Ship management manages and operates 18 chemical/oil tankers and five semi-submersible vessels. The company signed a cyber security contract (valid for five years) with KR in 2018, covering its fleet of 23 vessels.KR conducted a cyber security audit of Songa Ship management and certified the company to be fully compliant in all areas in 2019…

Busan Builds Logistics Center in Rotterdam

South Korean port company Busan Port Authority (BPA) said that it signed a contract with Samsung SDS to operate a logistics center in Rotterdam.BPA will begin a construction of the logistics center in September this year and complete and operate it in around June 2021.Samsung SDS, a subsidiary of Samsung group has been providing information technology services,  will provide comprehensive logistics services for small and medium-sized companies conducting business between Europe and South-Korea for 10 years from the opening of the logistics center.The signing ceremony was attended by Hong Won-pyo, CEO of Samsung SDS, as well as Joanne Doornewaard, Dutch Ambassador in South-Korea and officials from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.

First Subsea to Cover Formosa 1

UK-based offshore technology services provider First Subsea has delivered beach landing cable protection for three export cables on the 120MW Formosa 1 Phase 2 offshore wind farm in Taiwan.According to the Lancaster-based company, the contract was awarded by  Jan De Nul Group, EPCI contractor for delivery and installation of the project’s cables and foundations.Three systems, each 250m in length were contracted in Feb 2019 and delivered on time at the end of March 2019. ION Wins 2D Multi-Client Gig Offshore West Africa

ION Geophysical Corporation, a technology focused company that provides geophysical technology, services and solutions to the global oil and gas industry, announced a new 2D multi-client program offshore West Africa.The industry-supported NamibeSPAN program covers the under-explored Namibe basin offshore southern Angola. Wärtsilä is Building a Tech Hub in Vaasa

Wärtsilä is building a new center of research, product development and production, in Vaskiluoto, Vaasa.
