Schottel, Lyon Shipyard in U.S. Offshore Wind Push

Schottel said Wednesday it had reached an agreement with Norfolk-based Lyon Shipyard that positions both companies for the expansion of the U.S. offshore wind industry. The maritime propulsion specialist said the agreement was established based on the two companies' shared long-term strategy to support both the existing market and the up-and-coming offshore wind farm industry."U.S. wind farm operations will need a large fleet of Jones Act-qualified service operation vessels (SOVs), which will be fitted with thrusters and DP systems.

SCHOTTEL Inks Pacific Northwest Service Deals

SCHOTTEL Inc (USA) and SCHOTTEL Canada Inc have entered into a cooperative agreement with two Canadian West Coast marine industry companies to support the increasing local fleet of SCHOTTEL-propelled vessels. In the agreement, Seaspan Vancouver Drydock, based in North Vancouver, will act as a service and support center while McRae Electric, based in Burnaby, will be electric and controls service provider.Since the establishment of SCHOTTEL Canada Inc in 2016, the number of vessels equipped with SCHOTTEL propulsion systems in the Pacific Northwest area have increased enormously.

Aucoin Joins Schottel as U.S. GM

Gary Aucoin has joined Schottel Inc. in Houma, La., as the new General Manager. Aucoin is a dedicated sales expert taking over leadership of the growing U.S. subsidiary. Most recently, from 2010, he held the role of account manager at Wärtsilä with responsibility for both new business development and after sales service in the offshore market. These are already strong areas with further growth potential for Schottel in North America. Aucoin holds a master degree in business administration and 15-years of experience in the North American maritime sector.

SCHOTTEL, a manufacturer of propulsion and steering systems for ships and offshore applications, announced the appointment of Svante Fielding and Randall Freeman at its North American organization, SCHOTTEL Inc., in Houma, La. Fielding, the new Vice President Operations, Fielding previously worked at the SCHOTTEL headquarters in Spay, Germany, and will join the management team in Houma in spring 2016. He brings to the position 20 years of experience within the marine and propulsion industry…

Schottel Promotes Two Executives

Schottel Inc. of Houma, Louisiana , announced that Hank Morgan has been  promoted to Vice President, Sales and Service, and James Fremin has been promoted to Vice President, Finance. Schottel said it has seen a strong growth in the North American market place over the last 10 years and has recently expanded and realigned their organization to support their customers in a more efficient way. The new facility in Houma is fitted out for service work and repairs with modern equipment and procedures to ensure high quality work.

SCHOTTEL Inc. USA inaugurates new service location in Houma, La.; new SCHOTTEL subsidiary sales office in Australia. With an inauguration ceremony SCHOTTEL opened new facilities in Houma, Louisiana in October 2013. As an answer to the growing request for new SCHOTTEL propulsion systems and the steadily growing population of drives on the market the German manufacturer moved from St. Rose, La. to new facilities in Houma, La. The new spacious premises offer a large administration area and state of the art service halls equipped with heavy lift cranes especially suitable for large units.

Schottel Service Agreement, North America

Schottel Inc. the US American subsidiary of the German manufacturer of propulsion systems, Schottel GmbH, signed a service cooperation agreement with CS Controls INC (CSC) in September 2010 at the occasion of the SMM trade show in Hamburg, Germany. With this agreement, CSC is assigned to undertake repairs, upgrades and overhauls of Schottel thrusters in North America. Schottel Inc, based in St. Rose, Louisiana and CSC, headquartered in Houma, La. with an office in Orange, Calif., are located in close proximity. This ensures optimum training in Schottel propulsion systems and highest Schottel standards with the exclusive use of original Schottel spare parts. After in depths training, CSC engineers and technicians will be included in the Schottel Inc.

Schottel Expands in N America

Over the last years Schottel has enjoyed a strong growth in North America as well as in Latin and Central America. The “Schottel Fleet“ is growing rapidly and new facilities are needed.
