Dogger Bank Wind Farm: Alicat to Build Hybrid-powered Daughter Craft for North Star

UK-based offshore wind vessel operator North Star Renewables has ordered two hybrid-powered daughter craft from Great Yarmouth based-marine and engineering specialist Alicat.Once built, the vessels are destined for the Dogger Bank wind farm, 130km off England’s North East coast. SMS Group Wins Vessel Refit

UK-based ship repairers and marine engineering services provider SMS Group has secured two very important contracts with Trinity House."The culmination of many months work has seen the SMS team in Lowestoft secure both the refit of the Trinity House Vessel (THV) Alert and three publicly tendered ‘Lots’ with regards to mechanical and electrical maintenance," said a press release from the firm.James Grala, the General Manager of SMS Lowestoft, said “We’ve won both the mechanical repair, maintenance and service contracts for vessels located on the East Coast and the West Coast.“We’ve also won the electrical repair, maintenance and service contract for vessels on the East Coast. The former contract covers Harwich and Swansea and the later just Harwich.

SELEX Elsag to supply BNWAS to Boston Putford Offshore Safety

SELEX Elsag Marine, a Finmeccanica company, has received an order from Boston Putford Offshore Safety to equip 24 vessels with Bridge Navigation Watch Alarm Systems (BNWAS). BNWAS meet the requirements for ships to possess a monitoring system that provides a back-up to the role of Officer of the Watch by automatically alerting the Master or other qualified personnel if the Officer of the Watch is rendered incapable of performing regular and consistent watch duties. Seacor Smit To Acquire Boston Putford

Seacor Smit has signed a letter of intent to acquire all of the issued share capital of Putford Enterprises Ltd. and associated companies. Boston Putford’s standby safety vessels (SBSV), certain joint venture interest and vessels, and fixed assets will be acquired for approximately $30 million. The company’s SBSV fleet, including vessels held in joint ventures but excluding vessels managed for third parties, consists approximately of 18 vessels operating primarily in the southern U.K. sector of the North Seas. “Boston Putford is the market leader in the SBSV market in the southern North Sea with safety and multi-role vessels working for most of the field operators,” said Charles Fabrikant, Seacor’s Chairman and CEO.
