BP Welcomes FLNG Gimi in West Africa

The floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) vessel Gimi, that is a core component of the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) LNG project, has arrived at its destination on the Mauritania and Senegal maritime border.The FLNG vessel Gimi is at the heart of the GTA Phase 1 development, operated by BP with partners, Kosmos Energy, PETROSEN and SMH.GTA Phase 1 is set to produce around 2.3 million tonnes of LNG per year. UK, Finland, Estonia Practice Subsea Infrastructure Protection in Baltic Sea

The navies of Britain, Finland and Estonia were practising subsea infrastructure protection in the Baltic Sea region on Monday together with the Finnish Border Guard, Finland's Defence Forces said in a statement.In early October a gas pipeline linking Estonia and Finland was damaged along with three telecommunications cables in the area, which is known for its dense seabed infrastructure.Finland and Estonia suspect the gas pipeline and cable incidents are linked, and believe a Hong Kong-flagged container carrier caused the damage by dragging its anchor along the seabed.

Racing to the Bottom: Seabed Warfare Brings Threats, Opportunities

In the early morning hours of September 26, 2022, seismologists located throughout northern Europe detected two disturbances originating in the Baltic Sea that were consistent with underwater explosions. Within hours, an aerial image captured by a passing Danish F-16 showed an expanse of frothy seawater, suggesting that the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines had experienced a catastrophic event. Within days, an investigation by the Swedish Security Service concluded that both pipelines had sustained extensive damage due to an act of gross sabotage.

DOF Charters Havila Phoenix CSV. Wins Contracts in Atlantic Region

Offshore vessel operator DOF Group is pleased to announce multiple new contracts in the Atlantic region and the long-term charter of the construction support vessel Havila Phoenix.In the Atlantic region, DOF said it had secured an Integrated Field Support Vessel (FSV) contract with an international operator in West-Africa. The contract is for 365 days firm, with 365 days of options. DOF said it would deliver project management, engineering, procurement and logistics within deep-water construction and maintenance of existing subsea infrastructure. The company will use the Skandi Seven vessel for the project.Also in the Atlantic region, the company said it had secured multiple FEED studies towards prospective floating wind developments in the Atlantic region.

BP Files Petrojarl Foinaven FPSO Removal Plan

British oil major BP has filed a decommissioning plan for the removal of the Petrojarl Foinaven FPSO and the recovery of associated mooring systems, the risers and dynamic umbilicals from the Foinaven Field, located 160 kilometers (100 miles) west of Shetland in water depths of up to 600 meters.The FPSO and related equipment will be transferred onshore for re-use, recycling or disposal as appropriate. BP last year said that the Petrojarl Foinaven FPSO had to be taken off-station as it had reached end of its 25-year service life, operating in a harsh environment, and now the company has filed the removal plans with the UK authorities.The FPSO is owned by Petrojarl 4 DA (part of the Teekay Corporation group) and is currently chartered by BP under a bareboat charter party.

SBM Offshore Secures $620M Loan for Brazil-bound FPSO

Dutch floating oil and gas production firm SBM Offshore has secured a $620 million bridge loan facility for the financing of the construction of FPSO Alexandre de Gusmão, to be deployed in Brazil for Petrobras.The FPSO Alexandre de Gusmão will be deployed at the Mero field in the Santos Basin offshore Brazil. Mero is a project under Libra Consortium responsibility, in which Petrobras is the operator with 40 percent and with the following partners: Shell Brasil with 20 percent, TotalEnergies with 20 percent, CNODC and CNOOC Limited with 10 percent each, together with Pré-sal Petróleo S.A.

BW Offshore Orders VIKING Lifeboats for Australia-bound FPSO

Offshore safety equipment provider VIKING has said it has won a contract with FPSO supplier BW Offshore to deliver has selected VIKING Norsafe free-fall lifeboats, daughter craft, and davits for a large FPSO project which will operate off northern Australia.While VIKING did not share the exact name of the FPSO project, this is most likely the Barossa FPSO BW Offshore is building for deployment at Santos' Barossa project.The safety equipment provider said that the primary means of evacuation from the FPSO will be three VIKING Norsafe GES-50 Mk.

DOF Subsea Nets Contract Extension in Africa

Oslo-listed offshore vessel operator DOF Subsea has secured a 6-month extension to a contract in Africa.The company said that the project, with an unnamed client and at an undisclosed location, would continue using the Skandi Seven throughout the extended duration.The vessel is used for integrated FSV services, project management, engineering, procurement, and logistical services within deep-water construction and maintenance of existing subsea infrastructure.While DOF was tight-lipped on further details, MarineTraffic.com AIS data on Skandi Seven show the vessel has recently left Luanda, Angola, en route to "EAST HUB, BLOCK 15."  East Hub development is an area offshore Angola, operated by Eni.

SBM Offshore to Deliver FPSO for Petrobras' Buzios Field

Dutch FPSO leasing specialist SBM Offshore has secured a firm deal with Petrobras to lease and operate a newbuild FPSO at its giant Buzios offshore oil field in Brazil.The firm contract, for the 26.25 years lease and operation of the FPSO to be named Almirante Tamandaré, follows the signing of the binding Letter of Intent announced back in February. SBM Offshore did not share the financial details.FPSO Almirante Tamandaré will be deployed at the Búzios field in the Santos Basin approximately 180 kilometers offshore Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

Petrobras Orders Seventh FPSO for Buzios Field

Brazilian oil company Petrobras has ordered an FPSO from Singapore's Keppel Shipyard, in what will be the seventh FPSO unit installed in the Búzios field, in the Santos Basin.The FPSO, to be named P-78, will have a processing capacity of 180 thousand barrels of oil per day and 7.2 million cubic meters of gas per day.
